That's what we did, 3x a day by hand - doesn't have to be absolutely drenched, just staying wet enough to help germinate, and warm enough outside for about a week then it will grow !

25-30minutes a day for me. No timer and I don’t work from home.

New seed you want to keep it wet so 5-7 min 3x a day is preferred over one longer watering. After a few weeks then once a day
Thanks for the input. Set up the irrigation system to run 7min @ 8am, noon, 4pm..might toss in another one for the evening we'll see.
First time overseeding so we'll see how this goes...forgot to set vole traps this last winter
Do you guys use a starter fertilizer as well?
What are your intervals? 7min 3X a day, for 3 days a week? or does it need to be done every day for a few weeks? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

We’re not baking a cake, the ground and seeds need to stay moist. Direct Sun, shade, rainfall etc will all vary by the location. If it looks dry, water it.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Has anyone DIY'd an irrigation/sprinkler system? I don't have a big yard, and there's no sod down yet.

I'll just take the landscaper's contact info. They can do the sod work too. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

For anyone who has done irrigation recently what ball park prices did you pay? A buddy of mine had it done a few years back and said it was about $600/zone including the controller with the typical suburban house using 3 zones. Does that sound about right?

5 years ago it cost me $1200 for 3 zones.
Wish I had done underground sprinklers. Now I’ll have to rip the yard up at some point to do it.

They are booking into the late fall at the moment, but thanks for the link. I might be hand bombing some sod at this rate...back to the DIY irrigation questions! This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
We have a decent sized front yard on both sides of driveway so lots of trenching. Will get it done eventually. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
i think they can use a thing that slices into the turf without actual trenchingThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
