For what it's worth I've read mushrooms aren't anything to be worried about. Means you have good soil. They won't spread into a huge problem, I get them every once in a while, mulch them up with the lawnmower and I might only see them once or twice a year.

I stopped watering a couple weeks ago, front it crunchy dry (guess I should water it) but the back is lush still. Probably fertilize and water a couple times and that's it I suppose.

They're certainly big, but I don't know if they are the BEST I've tasted.

I haven’t watered or mowed in probably a month.

Filling vole holes with loam is satisfying.

Is this weekend too late to power rake and fertilize?

If anything we made a better decision because we had a consensus and were all on the same page.

not at all, keep pushing the lawn with fertilizer until the snow flies.
Edit: Fall is the best time to push your lawn with fertilizer, temperatures are ideal for growth. A thick lawn will prevent weed growth come next spring.

I tried to bring a section of lawn back to life. It was compacted after a summer construction project with heavy machinery and trucks driving over it. Also didn't see any rainfall or watering for three months. I aerated it, seeded it, fertilized a couple times and watered. I don't think the seeding did a lot, mostly just the Kentucky Bluegrass coming back to life and spreading.

First photo is from September 6 and current photo.

That's what I did and it seems to have worked fine, although I'm sure someone else will come along and say there's more steps than that.

All ive ever done. Using an actual fertilizer spreader makes a difference.. was lazy one year and tried to do by hand and ended up burning sections

A house on our street mustve let the kids spread the fertilizer because they ended up with a huge burn marks all over, it looked like they opened the bag and just walked around with it. Their lawn was trashed for most of last year and half of this summer, they had a guy try and cut out the dead and put in new sod but that didnt work and the last repair i dont know what they did but they have the greenest lawn on the street now

You don't inseminate the seeds afterwards?

You should only be inseminating the father of the seeds.

Should I aerate now (and overseed) or just wait and do it in the spring? Or do both now and the spring?

I aerated in spring this year, but next year, I'm doing it in the Fall. That way, all the dirt turds will settle in over winter.

Good point. I think I'm going to give it a whirl this weekend. Looks like freezing temps 10 days out, probably too late to overseed.
