Thought about putting down some micro clover seeds. Saw some pictures in certain FB groups and people seem to like the softness, color, and look.

Talked to a colleague in Houston and I mentioned we have a heat warning here. She said they were at 39c and waters her lawn twice a day.

Clover is a nice addition to the lawn as long as you don't use a broadleaf herbicide.

    No.
The "best" way is to wear nitrile gloves, dip your thumb & forefinger into Roundup and pinch & stroke along the (much longer, thicker) blades of quack grass.
    Seriously...

If you can do this without going insane, please advise.
I'm guessing the problem is quack grass is too genetically similar to regular grass that we don't have a herbicide that's selective enough to kill it.

Considering micro clover as well. Can you link the FB group?

“Calgary Gardening” has a post every day or two about micro clover it seems like.

So, to repair things and ensure that next year's season starts off well I will be aerating, top dressing, and over seeding this fall.
I am hoping to do the same, are you doing it yourself? the only thing that is currently holding me back is that I dont have any tool to level the top soil. What do you use? Also, when is a good time to do this? mid sept? thanks

I renovated 2 smaller portions of my yard in spring on my own. That was done over the period of a weekend, in between childs naps etc. This time I will contract the work out as I want the entire property done. Too big of a job to do alone.

To level soil, don't need anything fancy. I bought the Landzie levelling rake when it was on soil, it made the job easy, but you could easily do the same with a landscaping rake + push broom.

You want to have germination before first frost, I think you should have seed in the ground in the next few weeks.

Set up rain bird auto timers w/water hammer arrestors. Been watering 10mins/day every day. Looking pretty good.

I see broad leaves that shouldn't be in there and the length of the grass between the stones in the walkway is making me want to sharpen my tools and ask for your address.

Here's a picture of my front yard, been watering daily 10 min per zone during the heatwave. This is my first summer in this house, the previous owner took great care of the house but the yard (front and back) was a mess. Coming around nicely after some TLC, will have to dig around and see if I have before pictures anywhere. Name: 20220811_183025.jpg

I think it caught my neighbors by surprise to be honest haha. They are all generally older people that have been living in the area since day 1 a bit of a tight knit street but they're starting to warm up to the young EI dude with a loud camaro

Well Walmart has all their lawn stuff on clearance. Picked up a few dual zone water timers for 15$. They’re not fancy but makes it easier to set stuff up.

I'm a fan of this mower. I've been watering every 2nd day. Regular fert, and a little seed now and then. She thick.
