For those who suspect their EZ Seed is dead, you can tell within about 24hr. (I can't find a YouTube link but one exists).
    1. Completely dripping wet soak 2 paper towels and fold them to roughly 6"x6".
    2. Pour a bit of EZ Seed on the paper towel.
    3. Seal that in a Ziploc bag and set it on your deck in the sun.
    4. Watch for sprouts in less than 48hr.

Sounds like a project we did in grade 2

I left for vacation before the heatwave. I left my grass long intentionally to protect itself.
Came back, it was long, trying to go to seed even. Managed to prevent the mower from getting plugged by going in 1st gear. The truckload of grass if at the half way point of being done the lawn.

Love this Craftsman mower for the $1,000 I paid for it.

I'm jealous of some of these lawns I am seeing - having a tough time with having a dog peeing in the same spot during the winter and the voles that attack one side of my lawn. My lawn is very patchy this year.

I bought a new batch of seeds a couple of weeks ago and tested it out on some of the patches - so far is hasn't sprouted any new grass. :/

I've been watering the patch I'm trying to fix for the past 2-3 weeks now. Twice daily. It looks absolutely beautiful, thick, lush, amazing green. Some weeds are starting to grow in the repair area now though.

Now to get the rest of the lawn to look the same haha

I think the warm overnight temps are really helping. Earlier in June, ez seed was taking close to two weeks to germinate but the stuff I put down this month is much quicker.

I just put down a lot yesterday afternoon so will see how long it takes this week with the warm temps. I’m watering 3 times per day, never letting it dry out completely.
This is how it looks today 5-6 days after putting it down watering 3 times per day. Partly sunny area

This is what I have on day 5. 4 times a day watering. This is plain old Scotts contractor grade seed. West facing. Full out sun on this side from noon to sunset.

Very happy with the results this time around. Glad it's growing before another round of heat comes.

Tried this and none of my seeds germinated after 4 days. Returned the 2 large bags of EZseed back to Costco. Great return policy.

EZ Seed worked for me after 2 weeks of drowning the soil twice a day.
    Wasn't really that easy afterall.

I think it would work better in a high humidity area. Everything in Alberta dries out too fast.

Haven't tried it in years but dad always swore by white sheet over top of your grass seed bricks on the 4 corners and water right through the sheet.

My front yard is looking like crap. Is it a good time to reseed? or should I wait till the fall? or just wait till next year? ive covered some patches in the backyard with great success and that grass is looking pretty decent but upfront is a way larger area.

Unless you're going to water the shit out of it, i'd hold off till september. Its way too dry to have much success unless you're watering a pile

Post some pics. But without seeing it, wait until mid August, water the shit out of it, aerate, then push it with lots of fertilizer, water and mow often. If you have weeds then might need to add some killex or similar into the mix.

Had 3 good size burn marks in the grass this spring from portable fire pit use in the back yard. My mother said to do the same thing. We used white kitchen garbage bags (split in half) to cover the spots during the heat wave. She said it helps the water not burn off, birds wont take the seeds and helps create a green house. Worked perfectly. 1-2 months later the spots are completely filled in and you can't tell where it was burnt.

What do you guys do about clovers, crab grass, etc? Will Killex or other weed control products help get rid of these?

Killex for all broadleaf plants. I tend to spot treat with a spray bottle instead of treating the entire lawn.

Folks here are suggested to stroke Round up on each blade of grass for grass-type weeds? Been meaning to try that on a patch of quack grass in the front lawn but it sounds like a lot of work.
