Had ours done for $165. Power rake, aerate, remove leaves and crap from flower beds, overseed, fertilize. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I admit defeat @Buster , at this price I should have paid someone. You win. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Haha. i rented a power rake from home depot a couple years ago and it was $60/4 hours. Add in aerator (another 60?) and the fuckshow of moving said machines... def easier to just get someone to do itThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Trick is to split the cost with neighbors. Everyone does their own lawn, but you split up the cost. Personally I don't trust most of these landscapers. I had one good one for a few years before he disappeared, and several that did half assed jobs at everything with their day labourers, and wrecked the shit out of our gardens pulling up perennials. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. I paid a young guy to aerate this year. He was rolling around pushing a machine a few blocks away, so I pointed him to my place. He must have walked past 50 houses, uphill to get to my house. I tipped him well and sent him to the neighbors, with a good sales pitch to shame them into using him as well. I liked his hussle! This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I swap blades to power rake and then run over it a second time with the cutting blade to suck up the dead grass. Works like a charm, just dusty.

The guy I paid last year was a kid with two friends who had literally rented the shit from Home Depot. I think they did at least 3 houses just on my block and prolly a couple more very nearby.
They end up being fly-by-night because it's not sustainable, but it's pocket cash while the actual legit business "professionals" are literally double the money.
It's kind of sad that the black market ones take biz from the legit ones during peak season but I'm sure kErTurDUjUrD has a govt solution to balance these.
I bought commerical quality aerator and power rake last year at the start of the year. Bought used, cost about 3k for two used but good machines. Figured my kids could use them to make extra money in the neighborhood when they get a bit older. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I Didn't realize how much of an absolute beast the aerator can be as I've always hired it out. Now I have these machines that they won't be able to use until.a bit older than I had previously thought. Right now the neighbors and friends are all using them (like 8 on our block) and just throwing a few bucks in the pot until they are paid off then it can be a free for all until my kids take over
Anyone around braeside SW that wants me lemme know
This conversation just makes me depressed that we don't have Mexicans.
All we get is first Nations and Ukrainians with their boiled meat.
Ukrainians and the worst Mexicans.

Question for anyone with a sprinkler system - Is it safe to start up the system yet? OR should I wait a big longer?
