I probably have the same timer. if you just go outside and change the time by one minute, it will then reset to start the next day. If you water overnight you'll just cause mold or mushrooms

Is it worth fertilizing in relation to also overseeding with a thin layer of dirt? Is it worth waiting until it germinates to throw some down or do it before seeding? Or best to just leave it be.

Don't fert. It's too much for the new grass. Wait until it gets really established.

Well looks like I gotta deal with some voles for the first time. Any advice / best way to go about this? I have a small dog that would still be in the backyard but if its a few days I can avoid letting him out there.
We’ve had success with baited box traps with the sticky boards inside. It’s impossible for a dog to get hurt by one. Caught two mice in two days with them this week.

Traps... and then more traps.... and then never stop having traps out.

I'm going on 5 years of traps and still catch the odd vole coming out of the neighbours hillbilly rock garden/natural landscaping.

Are you sure it's voles @pheoxs ? I've never seen them in our neighborhood, they're usually an outer suburbs problem (closer to farmland). The squirrels around here however are insane this year. I've got dozens of tiny squirrel holes on my front lawn, and my wife's garden in the back is getting ravaged every night.

They're certainly big, but I don't know if they are the BEST I've tasted.

Well I can confidently say I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing so that's quite possible. I do have a squirrel that hangs out in my yard quite often so that would be nicer if its just that.

I'll see if I can snap a pic tonight when I'm home

Standard snap traps aren't going to damage dogs badly. You can use your own judgement about the pros and cons of that fact.

Our dumb mutt would definitely damage herself with snap traps haha. Oh peanut butter! Snap on the tongue/snout/eyeball/fuck whatever cost thousands to repair at the vet.

With that said I'm going to construct a 'vole death hut' to house standard snap traps so I can have traps out all the time. Think of a small dog house, with tiny doors just for voles, with a flip up lid that I can swap traps out easily.

I thought of doing this exact thing. But I also subsequently thought I have better things to spend time on since I’m moving out of the house in a month, and don’t care if the mice are there when we leave.

Go pulling for 5-10 min every day.
And/or spot treat with Killex. Buy an RTU bottle and a concentrate bottle for $28 that makes something like 50L of the shit. Don't over mix - it works per directions.

I think the squirrels I keep complaining about are actually eating the dandelions. I haven't seen one to pull out in weeks.

You are very welcome to come collect my squirrels free of charge.

Spot spray with killex in the heat of the day. Then follow up a couple days later to really get them.

For spot treatments I've always done it in the heat of the day when the plants are most thirsty. The dandelions are usually wilted brown by the next day.

Yea I'm not a rocket scientologist or anything but I've found in the heat of the heat of the day (when the dandelion flower is blooming) seems to work best. If you spray at night and then get dew overnight I find it doesn't do shit all.
