ya, maybe thats the way to go. I was kinda wanting to be a bit more involved with the yard this year to get outside and just have it be a hobby.
Time is the most precious resource someone once said...with that size of lawn, I'd definitely hire it out.

We put both these bags all of our front lawn and then also added soil - water like crazy and after a couple weeks it's all sprouted up way better than I imagined!! It's coming along super nicely, but has needed alot of watering to get them to germinate and sprout. We aerated too and patched all spotty areas with soil + seed. Raked. Watering 2 to 3 times a day by hand.

It's been almost 4 weeks now (2 weeks since it's really sprouted) have to go over a few areas that aren't as thick to add more but also next considering a fertilizer.

Any recommendation on a basic fertilizer? Would any ol' bag of Scott's stuff from Cdn Tire work alright of our simple purposes?
*I would wait a little longer before fertilizing based on your description. But I don't think it will ruin your life to not wait...

Scott's is actually a fairly premium fertilizer that's reasonably easy to use and a good price because all the big box stores carry it. I just always resisted buying it because I hated their parent company and really liked smaller fertilizer producers like Evergro etc.
I use it now and it's great but I'd cheap out and just get a hand spreader unless you have a massive lawn and space to store a drop or broadcast spreader the other 363 days...

We used to use weed man. Is there a better option in town or should I just call them again.

Just do it yourself. It's honestly a bit cathartic and good for you.
Those service providers are great at the start and then they inevitably appear to reduce their chemicals and produce poor results. Your landing strip (from earlier OnlyFans pics) looks like a great excuse to get off your pussy and take some pride in dealing with it yourself.
Second option is hiring a realtor which is apparently pronounced reallitor in Alberta...

Agree. It would take a serious realtor with the "PhD level CCIM designation" to manage your weeds effectively with the care, connections and charisma that is obviously required.
I have been getting by with a shitty hand tool weed extractor for years (and supplemental poison) and my lawn looks great. This is the first year where the explosion of dandelions that are seemingly being planted by the cLiMaTe EmErGeNcY crew have made me lazy enough to rely on more spot spraying this early in the season.
Just don't get mecoprop on your hands because it smells like cancer and it contains everyone's favourite benzene ring that means... Don't get it on your fucking hands.

I bought my house last June and the previous owners just ruined the once amazing landscaping this property had. I'm trying to get it back to the way it once was.

    Last June....

    September

Last month, removed the rest of those Bush things and added more of a gravel pad for the shop.

Yesterday. Still a long way to go, but its getting there.

For overseeding, has anyone used seeds from a local nursery vs a bag of Scotts (or similar)?

Looks like Bluegrass has different blends of KBG, fescue, rye..might be a better option and perhaps better quality seeds?

I forgot to re-book my guys and when I finally called two weeks ago, they were there later that afternoon. Surely there was some luck with that, but I can't imagine everyone is booking WAY out now...

That doesn't even make sense. I'm sure there's another house near you using the same service, it's not like they take a day to do the work.

Yes, they have better mixes esp for drought tolerance. Also pure mixes - e.g. only rye.

One of 3 times I’ve agreed with Ramos… way too much work to seed that. I’d resod

I'm going to disagree - that's not hard to seed at all. The key is making sure you have enough moist soil in contact with the seed. Get some normal screened loam, throw that down (at least 1/2"), then spread seed - don't be afraid to go a little heavy on seed. After that, do a pass with the rake to mix the seed with soil, then roll to pack it all down. Could add a thin layer of peat moss on top to trap more moisture in, but not critical. Then just water the shit out of it til it grows.

If you're DIYing, this is way easier than digging up and re-sodding. Key is just watering 3x a day or more to keep it moist for a couple weeks until you get solid germination.

Fuck I dunno using a SOD remover is pretty easy lol… I too for once may be agreeing with Mr. Ramos…

I shoulda raked it in though damn that’s a good idea! I can’t really water three times a day though haha.. I’m going to take a run at the seeding if it’s shit by July I’ll fucking giver on the SOD, make my land lord split the cost.

Also I don’t know why it flipped the pic, straight from my iPhone, haha super annoying sorry.
