I don't think Green Drop does that. They just spray chemicals. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
You need a landscape company for Power Rake plus Aerate plus Overseeding.

Last year a dude from Canadian Property Stars was doing a couple houses in the same cul de sac and he knocked on everyone's door to offer the service since they were already in the area with the equipment. I ended up using them last year for an aeration and power rake, and this year they called me again and i had them do an aeration only. It was done about 2 weeks ago and it looked like they did a great job. Pretty reasonable price at only $50 + tax for both front and back. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. I would recommend for aeration and power rake but can't comment on how well they would do a general cleanup.
Those door to door kids are the right choice.

Wow, they're desperate this year. I paid about $120 a couple years ago. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Am I the only one who aerates in the fall?

They can be. Last year my neighbour went with the fly-by-night guys that mass print flyers and undercut the established landscapers. He said they sucked, so I spent the extra $50 and got "a pro" and was very happy. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
This year, I reached back out to the pro and he didn't get back to me. I tried again and I can maybe assume he made a typo when he said "$275" instead of the $150 I paid last year.
So, I paid this year's Sketchy-McFlyer $100 for the same fucking job and this dude was literally using the equipment rented from Home Depot. LoL!
He did a perfectly fine job, though. And, I can get 10 gummers from Toilet_X and a pack of darts with the money I saved!
Remember when @spacerz did this? He was good.

I had someone so the whole overseer power rake aeration thing last year.
Was very disappointed in their work. Not sure if ever pay someone money to do that again.

Does anyone have any tips for peak Summer lawn maintenance? My lawn does great in June and most of July, but when early to mid-August rolls around during the hottest times, my front lawn tends to dry out. My watering schedule (automatic irrigation) stays constant through out, I will water a bit more if it's really hot, but that doesn't help those trouble spots. My only guess is that my cuts are too short?
To those inquiring about Spring lawn prep service. I've stopped with those as most companies I've used don't do a good job with the clean up or the rake. I started to do it myself a couple years ago and I yield much better results since I actually give a shit. All I normally do is power rake with a $30 blade from CTire, a good manual rake and leaf clean up and I'm good to go.

Do you water in the mornings? And how long do you run the sprinkler for?
If its in south facing it needs a pile of water to not burn. Maybe run it twice as long but half as often so it gets really soaked. And keeping it longer helps a lot as well.
Presumably you seed with high sun tolerance grass in the areas that really bake?

Do you guys overseed every year?
Had our yard landscaped 2 seasons ago, haven't really done much besides dethatching and fertilizing. Not sure what else I should be doing for yearly maintenance
No to overseed every year. Dethatch and then once the season gets going I hit it with some of that 89coupe magic (Scotts Green Max) and that's about it. Mine is also just 2 years old. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Maintaining green grass in BC doesn’t even count haha
No sun to burn it, and no shortage of rain.

I’ve never over-seeded. This lawn is 3 years old.
The vole damage I patched last year is super thin this spring, assume the seed mix isn’t idea for Calgary? And half the backyard is currently EZ Seed due to dog damage, it’s fucked haha
Some tips that work for me maintaining green grass in the Okanagan in the hot months, cut on the highest setting, don't push with any fertilizer as the grass is already stressed, water less frequently with longer intervals, the idea is that less frequent longer watering promotes deeper root growth which will help it survive in the hot months. Water early in the morning, I set my irrigation for 5am.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I overseed the front lawn with Scott's Sunny Mix usually. It should stand up to hotter temps. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I think this year I'll cut longer and keep the grass piled high. I haven't adjusted the watering duration though. I'll try watering for longer and less frequently this year and see if that helps. I've heard this so many times from so many people that it simply has to be true. But... It seems so counter intuitive to me. I would think 15min per hour for several hours would be best but I've never heard anyone recommend that. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
The problem with that approach is you lose a lot to evaporation, even if its overnight. At least in my mind but I'm no scientist. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
