I've started mine up early just because of how dry it's been. I'm not worried about a night or two of zero, the underground pipes aren't going to freeze at this point. If you don't have automatic drain valves though (or of you don't know) I would wait.

Far too early. Wait until Vic Day holiday at the earliest. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Definitely wait til Canada day. If you really want to be safe, wait til labour day, you should be in the clear at that point for a couple weeks.

Finished dethatching lawn yesterday, I was planning to overseed and fertilize today but worried about the colder temps next week. Should I wait or just go for it and hope the new seeds survive?
You're fine to do it now. In fact cooler temps are better for the younger shoots. You need to water like mad though to get them to actually sprout and survive. Also unless you put some soil with the seed it does sweet fuck all. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Booked in a power rake / aerate / seeding / fertilizer for tomorrow for the first time. Excited to see how the lawn does this year.

Yes. I only dethatch, aerate and fertilize (granular) the ~ i acre homestead. I spray fertilize the pasture. Put down 125kg of 20-10-10, and 25kg of seed. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
How are the lawns doing back in Alberta?

I like neat cars.
Picked up the Stihl Kombi system https://en.stihl.ca/STIHL-Products/0...mbiSystem.aspx and some attachments: lawn edger, blower, cultivator. Nice tool to use with lots of power, would recommend.
How much thatch you guys actually get out of your lawn? Paid the crew to power rake and then was out yesterday fixing some dead spots. Detacher removed an absolute pile… not convinced they did a good job or a standard job or wtf
Am I the only person who thinks people fixate an unhealthy amount on detaching?

Detach every couple years.
Aerate every year.
I'm going to aerate in the fall this year and do fuck all now.
Fall is an awesome time to do things.

I've mentioned that several times in this thread. Early August (for Canadians) is the prime time to make moves on the lawn like aerating and seeding. Spring is a good time to water and push with fertilizer, and if you're a lawn connoisseur like nismodrifter, you spray tenacity too. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member.
