Dug back a bit couldn’t find it, did someone link a company that sends you a plan and MTO for sprinklers if you send them a layout of your yard?

This might need a new thread but after claiming victory over the voles in my lawn, I can now turn my attention to these bastards:

(sorry about the bad pic, in the middle of a sneeze when I took this)

I think they are Sawfiles. They came with the columnar birch trees we bought from a nursery 3 years ago and the nursery says they don't harm the tree, but makes it look like its dying, turns half the leaves brown.

After reading up on them it looks like they hatch like this twice a year so I'm too late to save this years leaves. Anyone know the best and easiest way to get rid of them? I'm not against insecticides etc. Only thing is the trees are planted in a flower bed so fire isn't an option, yet.

I've tried the pruning the affected leaves early but wasn't very effective, and makes the tree looks like its really dead. I've also tried the pyrethrum based insecticides with no effect. I've been reading up on Spinosad and Azadirachtin, based insecticides, but not legal here?

I should have just gone swedish aspens, but wanted to be different from the neighbors.

I've used this on aphids on house plants in the past, will it work on these?

    Why the baking soda?

Well this season has not gone well. Had alot of rain and cool weather right up to the end of June. Nobody in my area had even turned on irrigation at that point because we had so much rain.

Then 3 or 4 days of extreme heat hit. Lawn got stressed to shit.

I had spot treated rampant clover and creeping buttercup (the most evil weed ever) with tenacity prior to the heat hitting. So 3 weeks later I am left with a slightly brownish lawn with patches of bleached weeds and grass where I sprayed tenacity. Rip.

Ill resume ocd lawn care and plan for an over seed + some repairs in mid August. For now just letting Er sit.

Looking forward to fall mowing season.

Rain or no I have my watering going every day front and rear. I figure I can reduce global warming by keeping my lawns moist and cool.

Doesn't the standard 24D week killer work on all this stuff you guys are complaining about? I mean, you might want the strong type like Par III maybe, but I never thought they were that hard to kill, unless I'm missing something.

BRB going straight to crappy tire for killex. will report back in 2 weeks. Think i'll do a light feeding and overseed at the same time. Overseeding during peak summer heat is one easy way to do my part to fight the climate emergency. will be taking my 1/2 ton there and back w/ no passengers or cargo too.

I personally prefer the concentrated versions of 24D so that you can mix it a bit stronger than normal. Risk of burning the grass exists but is minimal if the ground is well watered beforehand.
That Trillium Par III stuff is nice and strong, use like 50ML for your whole yard. Remember when there was a beyond member selling that in glass jars out of his garage? ExtraSlow remembers.
