Even for your last mow of the season I'd spread some fertilizer water it in and be done for the year. Your lawn should be the first to green up in the spring.

I didn’t think to fertilize but did all this today, cut the grass super short this time and I think I am done for the year. Now, I need to figure out what I’m going to do for the winter, corner lot is going to suck. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

^You buy a snowblower. Corner lots without snowblowers are the anti-vaxxers of home owners.
I was looking at a 2 stage snow blower but it might be overkill. It’s our first winter at this house so no clue what to expect.
Expect enough snow that some sort of hydrocarbon powered implement will be fully mandatory.
You either blow snow or pay someone to do it for you.

2 stage without question. We had a single stage at our house initially and it just wouldn't do the job when you get a big dump. Had to sell and buy 2 stage. You won't regret it. Plus you can do everyone else's sidewalk and be "that neighbor". It's fun. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Now that I'm out here, I consider my 2 weeks of snow shovelling a blessing. Love doing it. Corner lot with extra wide sideways gets the heart going. Snow is freaking damp and heavy.
Thank you, 2 stage it is!This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I would recommend the exact opposite. Been using a single stage for 7 years now and its perfect. I have maybe needed a 2 state less than 5 times in total and even then it just takes a bit more time to get it thrown. I am also "that guy" on our block as well. My neighbour also uses mine when his 2 stage wont take off the trampled down tire tracks. A single stage scraps the ground completely. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. I went with this one: https://www.homedepot.ca/product/sno...ger/1001485852This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Had one issue last year where the snow was wet and ~ two feet and couldn't get the job done.
I've never felt the need for a two stage in Calgary. Single stage has managed to do everything I need, even through some of the wet snow storms we get. Only time a two stage would've been nice is when we had that massive dump last winter, but that just meant I had to munch through it a bit slower instead of being able to plow through the whole thing.
Something to think about is that single stages clear right down to pavement whereas two stages don't.
Also, keep an eye on the Equipment Express website, sometimes they have some great sales that you can PM with Home Depot for additional savings.
Thanks, I will look at equipment express I have never heard of them before. My biggest concern is the sidewalk beside the house, I am in a cul-de-sac so it's mostly just local traffic but mostly elderly neighbors who use it to get to the mailbox up the street, so I want something that can get the job done properly.
I'm assuming that attempting to do lawn cleanup (aerate/etc) is still too early, based on it being -15 a couple days ago at night... Place i use is trying to get me in tomorrow, and just want to make sure i'm not way off when i tell them that its way too soon?
I'd probably go for it. Grass is already starting to turn green. Only thing I might avoid right now is an overseed, but aeration/fertilizer are probably fine.
I bought a dethatcher this year so am interested on timing for this as well.
Tap, Rack, BANG!
power raking with overwintered grass seems a bad idea... might try to delay them a week or two
Bought an aerator and power rake a few years ago. I power raked a couple Fridays ago when it was 22 degrees. Made a big difference my lawn is by far the greenest among the neighbors . Too early to aerate not enough penetration in hard ground
Was going to do the same this weekend but snow ended that idea quick. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
best spring fertilizer mix to use? Internet is giving me contradictory info.
Anyone use the services like green drop? Im a total newb to the lawn game and no matter what i do i just cant get it green enough and i feel the grass has went downhill big time in the 2 years ive owned the place. I did the whole de thatching and fertilizer thing but no dice on the green. I just checked and green drop has some package for 450 where they'll do everything. https://www.greendrop.com/calgary. Do you guys think thats worth it?

How is your watering schedule? Green drop and other companies can definitely help take your lawn to the next level, but if you don’t water then there is only so much they can do. The nicest lawn in my cul de sac has green drop but they also have automated irrigation.
You’re better off taking that 450 and investing it into irrigation imo.
