My zero effort lawn has been loving the rain and the coolness.

I initially tried spot spraying what looks to be dandelions? But they have been getting worse. Whats the best way to mitigate this? My last resort will be greendrop, but wondering if I could just do a full sweep of Ortho Killex concentrate + scotts dial sprayer?

Killex usually easily kills dandelions and you shouldn't need to over-concentrate it...
Have you tried pulling them with a weeder tool? It's not that soul crushing.

I’d just start spot spraying with killex. Buy the concentrate and mix yourself. Spray them one by one and then hit them again in a few days. Then push the lawn with fertilizer and you’ll be Golden.

Thanks. This is the concentrate I currently have and have been diluting it as per the directions, will try another round of it. I think I need to get rid of the measly spray bottle and get a proper pump sprayer to make it easier.

Any recommendations for a decent weeder tool? I'll probably start attacking them with chemicals and manual labour.

As for crab grass, I don't think killex works? so removing the root is the only option?

I use one like this and it's just OK..
    https://www.homedepot.ca/product/fis...ool/1000174354

These ones are supposed to be way better:
    https://www.homedepot.ca/product/fis...in-/1000679928

And I think this kind is a true step above:
    https://www.amazon.ca/AMES-Companies..._1689396187505
But that price is whack. It should be around $60

Just do what you recommend yourself. Do a sweep with the Ortho Killex and dial sprayer.
Your spot spraying might not be working well since the weather hasn't been consistenly dry and I feel we've had showers daily.

Best results are probably 48 hours of dry weather after application (spot or sweep).

I got the killex concentrate and mixed it at 150mL per 4L. The 7L strayer at Canadian Tire was about $30 and works great.

Thursday morning I sprayed and I'm seeing limp dandelion flowers and leaves that are obviously dying. Pretty impressed actually. The lack of strong window and rain the last couple of days has helped a lot.

Weeder I use this and it's awesome:

Lol. They recommend what, like 6ml/Litre. You mixed it at 6x strength. Great to hear that works. I bought the concentrate but am still hesitant to use. I have a few problem areas that need to be addressed (chickweed, buttercup). The areas are not in close proximity to where my kid plays, perhaps will give it a spray at 8x strength for the lulz.

I did some googling and the active ingredients are similar/same to Par3 just at a higher concentration. Someone figured out how to make it equal and that was the concentration they provided.

    And it does! No complaints

Caught a case of the chinch bugs front and back.

They haven't done crazy damage yet, but I can see it's starting to affect my lawn a bit. Very annoying.

In picked this up this morning and planning to apply later this afternoon. Hopefully it does the trick with a couple applications.

Chinch bugs shouldn't thrive where the lawn is kept moist, so it may not be them...my neighbor had Nutrilawn out as they figured chinch bugs were causing their yellow patches but NL found no indications - he did suggest it could be ant nests as their lawn is well looked after too

Here's my lawn from April 16th then July 16th

    Canadian Tire.

You can visibly see them jumping around when you step on the grass.

I grabbed a mason jar and trapped a couple inside for a few days and went to take a look at the bugs and sure enough, these little bastards are all over front and back. I'd like to think I water regularly. Twice a week on a good soak from each zone (about 40-60min). I guess that's why there isn't a crazy infestation yet, but I do notice it isn't green as it should be.

I water daily morning and night and still have chinch bugs. They can come from your neighbors or adjacent field.

About to do a second application of Safer's EndAll. I ordered from Amazon, but you can get it at Crappy Tire.

Despite some real hot weeks and some pretty severe snow damage, things are finally looking good. Its so thick though it leaves footprints when i mow!

Impressive. That looks like a shag carpet from the '70's.
