I really like the look of Christmas lights on trees. Wrapped branches on matured deciduous trees particularly. Do it.

When I was a kid, I had the job of putting up the light son our 30 foot tall spruce tree. I had a super long bamboo pole that I had hockey-taped a coat hanger to the end of. that was back in the day of glass bulbs. Broke many of those fuckers overhead while it was swinging around in the wind. Ahhh memories
    Got the quote back.
2- 40-50FT pine tree's wrapped globe style including the light strands.... $4160.

Easy to say that wont be happening. In my mind if it was $1500, even $2000 I might have considered it.

I've got this intermittent issue where my Ego LM2135SP mower won't turn on consistently. I took it for a warranty repair at Alberta Forest and Garden and they were able to fire it up when they went to diagnose it (did not fire up when I dropped it off). Took it back home a couple days later and mowed the front yard but won't fire up again after that. I've seen some videos where people are removing switches/safety relays and wondering if anyone has a recommendation to do this electrical work.

No reputable shop will remove safety features of the equipment. Too much liability.
But usually those switches can be jumpered with any cheap wire and it's bypassed.

Aerated today. A bit early, but with the restrictions, water can get deeper. I'm going to overseed with pregerminated seeds this weekend too.

Tried pregerminated overseeding this week. Seems simple enough, and saves water. Hopefully it works.

Step 1) Soak seeds in water for 5 days until they germinate, changing water twice a day.

Step 2) let them drip to get rid of excess water

    Step 4) Spread it out

Step 6) layer up with screened loam, which I'm doing tomorrow.

Benefit of this method is that you don't need to constantly water you lawn to get them to germinate in the ground, and it lessons the time birds and squirrels will feast on them.

    @Tik-Tok changing the game!

When do you start mowing young grass? And do you have to do anything to prepare the grass for winter?

I have been pre-germinating for years with peatmoss, one thing I learned doing it is to prepare the soil first. Scarify first if you can... the grass grows well in the peatmoss, but if the ground is compact...it doesn't take as well. Also, when I started I didn't pay attention to the seed:peatmoss ratio for the size of lawn I was trying to seed, it was really concentrated and I found the grass didn't grow as well when so much was competing for the same resources.. I have slowly start to dial back the concentration to see better results.

Yeah, for sure you have to disperse it properly. Thats why I had it on a scale. My new roller drops about 200sq.ft of moss per fill, so mixed the seed appropriately.

That thing is awesome by the way, saved me so much time and energy for both the seed/moss mix and the topsoil afterwards.

Amazon of course. The handle is a bit flimsy, but the drum seems solid, so I pull it instead of pushing. Good enough for 2000sq.ft of lawn twice a year I figure.

I sprayed weeds with this year with Killex. Did full lawns in June and Aug. Amazing. Backyard use to be all dandelions. Now not even 1.

What product totally kills off weeds and grass? I have landscape rocks on one side of house but grass is growing through. Roundup?

Round up has worked great for us for that. Make sure you soak the piss out of them

If you really want them gone fast you can pour boiling water on them. Works better then Round Up and is instant.

When I have time (or in the dog run) I'll use a kettle and boiling water. When I apply Round Up I usually do 2 passes a few days apart as some of those fuckers could survive an atomic bomb.
