Does Calgary require developers to put in front yard sod for new builds?

Pretty happy with my front lawn this year. North facing helps, but also watered a lot during July. Don’t think I’ve watered once since about mid august. Also mowing higher (level 4 out of 6 on my green works mower) helped I think, especially during the heat waves. Also bought some fall fertilizer that I put down yesterday so will see if it makes a difference next spring

Long lush grass tops putting greens any day, in my mind. Way nicer looking (and doesnt dry to a crust in our summers). Looking good!

No, although some builders add it and inflate the cost as a value add.

Once you cut it short its very difficult to go back. I had mine down to under 1" for most of the summer and it was simply amazing. Looks like a fine rug and held its own with minimal watering even during the heat wave. I got lazy and let it go back to 3-4" height. Just not the same. Doesn't look as neat/tidy. Keeping it short requires 2-3 times per week cut though. RIP.

Do nothing. All of that shit is going to die and be covered in snow in a matter of weeks anyways. If some larger ones really bother you maybe hand pull them.

Congrats on the new place as well!
    Thank you!
I will leave it as it is and tackle it next spring.

Use roundup concentrate and buy a hand sprayer for killing the weeds. A couple of weeks before you seed or lay sod, water the dirt, encourage weed growth and nuke them all with roundup. Will keep them from invading your new lawn.
    Thank you.
I will use roundup concentrate next spring and kill them all!!

    *mix it correctly, though!

Using Roundup in higher concentrations does fuck all but waste the concentrate.

Anyone else noticing powdery mildew on their grass? Just noticed some in my back yard. Pretty sure it just came up within the last week or two. Is it worth trying to do anything about this close to winter?

^I've heard Iron Chelate as I'm sure you found on Google.
I used to have two massive blue spruce trees but they never got sick, so I don't have direct experience.

Thx. This was going to be my first treatment - though I was hoping to know for sure first. There are also mold, insect, and disease possibilities, though I see no evidence of such....

There's nothing wrong with it. New growth is blue because your tree found some iron.

Spruce trees lose needles naturally. See how it does next year.

Do you guys use Fall fertilizer?
Also, is it too late for fixing some patches/seeding?
I also saw a few lawn items on sale this weekend, is it worth buying and storing?
    Thanks

Right now is a great time to push your lawn with fertilizer, water, frequent mowing. It will fill in making it more difficult for weeds to take up space next season. As far as lawn items, depends on what it is. Chemicals and fertilizer are fine to store, seeds not so much.

If it’s just the one I would pull that manually. Otherwise roundup should kill it but you’ll probably kill the good grass around it as collateral damage.

You throw them in the garbage and don't water as much.

Alternatively you dig up your entire yard and remove every piece of dead wood that's buried in it.
