You could aerate if you're feeling the itch to do something.

Give it a week or two, the Spring of Deception should be done by then and it's just May long snow to worry about

A bit of snow isn't bad, but the guys above are right that the soil temps need to be up, and the overnight lows need to be "mostly" above zero before the real growing season starts. 14 day forecast has below freezing overnight lows for the entire duration. Calm yourself down for a bit. If you get bored, start a 2024 cheap beer thread or something.

You realize you are talking to the guy who made his own furniture out of salad bowls right?

I dethatched yesterday, many many bags of dead grass - can't decide if I should aerate this year or not as it has been a few years now.

Yo bro, are you from that goat Calgary car forum that get salty over lawn care, land rovers and circumcisions? That's straight fire.

If it's been a few years then aerating is not a bad idea.

I don't think aerating is ever a bad idea, particularly with our clay-rich soil.

If you are dealing with poa annua, or other weeds, mechanical aeration will just distribute the unwanted species throughout your lawn. Be careful.

Scarified and did a short cut on Sunday. Also cleaned out the flower bed.

We used nutrilawn last year and while the services worked, their communication was crap and multiple times didn't call before they'd just appear and the gates would be locked so they'd have to come back.

They also kept trying to run some credit card number that wasn't even ours and it took us calling them before they'd retry.

Going with Hometurf this year for fertiliser, weed treatment, insect control, overseeding and liquid aeration (did mechanical myself last year)

Ended up being $75 more than Nutrilawn last year but that didn't include the insect control or the liquid aeration
