Not really...apparently it is fairly common when crappy prep work was done underneath and poor drainage. I asked him if he should seal it but if you use regular sealer it will come out blotchy. He recommends a Penetrating sealer that won't change the color. It can be purchased at Hardrock developments....it ain't cheap but should keep the problem from coming back.

Yea it visually looks like the aggregate in the concrete is retaining moisture, even after the driveway has dried all day in the hot sun.

But its been fairly dry the last month. And the spots were not there in May or June when it was way more wet. Our driveway is steep-ish so there isn't any standing water on or around it.

Although I guess it's been fairly humid the last couple weeks, maybe thats causing it too.

Had the concrete supplier and concrete setters out this morning and their official response was "they don't know whats causing the spotting".

Its not trapped moisture as it would dry out in the sun. And they're not concerned with spalling as its already been through 1 winter. So basically its not a structural issue and they dont know how to fix it. They did recommend sealing it though.
