I thought this would be about Berkshire Hathaway having $122B sitting around in fear of global recession.

You would think the USA would be fully onboard the climate bandwagon considering that they are closer to the equator. But you can always nuke hurricanes amiright?

We’re facing huge risks to our way of life, we are facing mass human suffering. There’s nothing more alarming than that,” said advocate Chris Gusen. “It’s not about habits anymore. It’s about big shifts and it’s about big things that only the government can do.

While Edmonton declaring a climate emergency is... interesting... there's no denying climate change. That so many beyonders still do is both sad and hilarious.

The best part is the "big things that only the Government can do.". The Government fucks up everything it sticks its inept fingers in.

The only thing the government can do, is politely ask corporations to do something.

Unfortunately the alarmist, hyperbole is exactly that is driving many uninformed the other way - to denial.

Most dont know that the climate has been changing/oscillating for billions of years and will continue to do so.

However, I would NOT encourage ocean-front property.
Places like Miami are already experiencing some high tide flooding. Places like YVR and Richmond wont be around for much longer (eg. 20-50 years).

Carbon taxes are the new chic, and we all know taxes solve everything. Best way to make sure something costs 10 times what it should is get the Government to run it.

Serious question though - what should be in AB be doing to PREPARE for the climate change ?

Presumably, hotter summer and colder winters?

    - more solar panels?
    - improved home build standards?
    - white paint on south facing walls?
    - insurance companies to incentivize more hail resistant materials? (eg. no more vinyl siding or cheap asphalt roofing?)
