    IT'S MOVING DAY!

Over the last week we've been recruiting people from our group of friends and 3 different hockey teams I play on. We finally had everything set up to go in there for a forced eviction tomorrow but my girlfriend made a final call to the police this morning to let them know our plans for tomorrow. Dispatch advised us not to go in there and that an officer would call us back right away. The officer called and told us they would visit the site and give the occupants 2 hours to leave. By the time I woke up, the tarps had been removed and the occupants were taking up the flooring and cleaning up the small stuff. That lasted about 6 hours and they're still out there yelling at each other right now. I don't know what's taking so long but it appears like they're doing a thorough job if removing all of their belongings.

One funny part about this is for 10 years I had multiple tarantulas and twice a year I would clean out all of their tanks. I'd take the old, disgusting, webbed up, dead worm filled soil and dump it over the fence in the same spot. That spot is right where they set up camp. I got rid of my last spider last year so I no longer have them now.
These guys usually piss and poo where they sleep so I doubt that the worm filled soil would phase them even if they'd known. Congrats btw, looking like it's finally done

Similar story; downtown beside my condo there was a little nook on the back of an abandoned warehouse. That nook was filled with 3 bums at all times and one time I saw the raggedy old woman taking a shit standing up with her legs spread to the sides as I was driving through the alley. Unfortunately driving form there is the only way for parkade entry. Probably one of the most disgusting things I've ever seen. Couldn't be happier when the some company bought out the land next door and tore down the warehouse and built some other retail shit.

Give it a few days, they'll be back haha - unless it's too cold for them at night now.

If you used to dump your tarantula cage dirt there, I can't think of much that would be more uncomfortable to be around than urticating hairs - that would be literal torture. Good thing they had tarps haha.

The cops showed up at 5am and there was a lot of yelling. It appears nothing has changed.

They're actually throwing their empty food containers over the fence and into my yard now. There's more trash every day.
I like the composting Idea. Get a large bin, put all your lawn clippings in there along with all your food scraps. Or just go get some good old fashioned stink bombs and chuck them in there everyday when you get home from work.

Motion lights won't work as they've put up tarps and are likely moving around under them. But maybe large flood lights all night long? Or...maybe the increased evening light would enable them to conduct increased activity at night!? Tough situation. Good luck!

Saw this article and thought of Mar and his neighbours... They'll be back claiming ceremonial tent and get it passed into a bylaw exemption.

I park in an outdoor lot on 10th between the new Residence Inn and Blondies. On the Blondies side there is a dumpster close to a wall that I just noticed has a pretty sophisticated looking camp built between the dumpster and the wall. At first you can't tell what it is until you look closer and notice the pallet floor, tarp walls, and shopping cart parking inconspicuously around back. A for effort and thankfully its not in a residential neighborhood. Hopefully those are some of the smarter bums, not like the ones who shoot up and take shits in the middle of the alley right behind my office.

ceremonial tent? with those tire paths into it? What are they doing, smudging their cars or hot boxing them?

No update. They left and never came back. I haven't looked over the fence to see what they left.

If you ever walk up the bow river pathway on the east side of the river, just north of Blackfoot/17th ave... just off the gravel trail there is a log cabin... with chimney

That brick structure was actually a living space for the WID's weir/gate master back in the 40's. One can not get into it anymore although my kids and I have been in it a number of years back before it was secured. I'm somewhat surprised there is no historical plaque there with respect to that building and it's purpose. It's even more amazing that it's still standing and hasn't been demolished.

Oh no! This isn’t that, it’s in the woods south... it’s 100% a sketchy homeless cabin
