Default Air tank repair - advice needed.

Does anyone know about air fittings and tanks? I have this princess auto carry tank that hasn't held up very well. There was a plastic knob that allowed you to open or close the valve, but the plastic has broken.

I can currently operate it with a pair of vice grips, but I feel like a repair should be possible. The thing is, I'm sure if I take it all apart, I'll end up spending an unreasonable amount on fittings that may or may not work. If I just muddle my way through it, I'll probably end up breaking it permanently.

I'm thinking anyone who works with air fittings and parts for thier day job might be able to point me in the right direction.

Wow, it's just an easy to replace part, I hadn't looked much, but that seems super simple. Nice. I don't really need the schraeder valve on it. If I get some time I'll see if I can just set it up as a quick-connect manifold.

A few minutes at Princess Auto, assuming no browsing, a few minutes at home and you should be good to go.

its true, they will exchange it, but then you'll be there every week forever, exchanging it, better off to just fix it once with good parts

You, sir, are very correct. An innocent visit to the surplus section got me two 48" LED fixtures in my garage and now I'm up to six and I'm still thinking I might need a couple more.

It’s probably an NPT fitting which screws in so pick up some Teflon tape to wrap the threads prior to install

A person can't just go into Princess Auto "for one thing". You go in for one thing and you leave with 10 things because you bought the one thing you needed, one more thing that you didn't know you needed until you saw it, and 8 more things because they were cheap/on sale and you might need them some day.

Was at the north store today, one $8.49 item to pick up, wandered around for over 30 minutes, paid for the one item I went there for and walked out. But there were many, many tempting things. So many.

Well, spent $80 while buying that $14 replacement air manifold. I would have spent more if I could have found the parts to modify that manifold the way I was wanting to, but alas either they don't sell them or I wasn't looking hard enough. I'll see how energetic I get later.
