    Default Best flight routes

When flying to Italy or France, what is the best airline/route to take?

Planning on doing France & Italy next year and not sure what the best way to get there is.

Travelling with a family of four.

    I recommend Netjets.

You realize you are talking to the guy who made his own furniture out of salad bowls right?

You can start in France and work your way down to Italy. You have to stop in the middle from Italy anyway on the way back; also easier since there's no direct flight from YYC to FCO (Rome).

KLM/Lufthansa are safe bets with hubs in AMS and FRA, respectively.

IF you want: British Airways does YYC to LHR I think. WestJet does LGW (Gatwick). Then take EasyJet from UK. Cheap flights, no frills.

WestJet does Calgary to Paris direct on their new 787s, that's probably your easiest and also the cheapest. Start there and work your way down. No need to go through the UK IMO - with kids you probably want to minimize travel time.

NY to Paris - one of the few actual First Class cabins available on Trans Atlantic flights to EU (last time I checked) avail on Air France.

YYC -> NYC -> Paris, if thats avail.

Damn Concorde isnt avail anymore though.

We are flying direct to Paris next week via Westjet. The departure time is 730pm so the kid will hopefully just sleep through the flight. Arrive at noon ish. It's perfect. Their new 787 have pods too if you are looking for business class+ experience. Too rich for my blood hah

After spending a week in Paris, we are going to train (2hrs) and stay in Bordeaux for a few nights, then flying down to Barcelona (1 hr flight = $50/pp) for a few nights, then fly back to Paris, then Calgary.

I did Rome via YYZ on Alitalia in Business Class.

Left much to be desired, I couldn't imagine how Economy would have been on that 9 hour flight.

I think we will do a couple nights in Paris, then train it down to Nice, stay there for 5 nights then train it to Positano for another 5 nights, then back to Paris.

Something like this, haven’t quite figured it out yet.

Not sure what you're looking for in a vacation but 5 nights is probably a bit much for Positano. We went on part of our honeymoon for 5 nights and had an incredibly located hotel with full terrace was amazing views but we found that Positano was extremely touristy. Easy to see/do/eat everything you would want to in 3 nights, but that's just me. Lots of the restaurants provide free hotel pick up with reservations. I drove there from Naples and that was one of the highlights of my time there, driving through the winding picturesque roads in an Opel was even enjoyable.

I think we are scrapping that idea now.

It’s looking like 5 nights in Paris & 8 nights in Nice.

But some are saying that is too long in Nice.

We just want to chill and relax on beaches and dine at nice restaurants at night.

    Always looking for suggestions.

With that much time you should add in another destination and do 4, 4 and 5 in wherever you're flying out of. Beaches in Europe have always been kind of meh to me. I didn't see if you said when you're going but you should consider the temperature if your main concern is beach/relaxation. If you're stuck on that, have you considered Spain or Portugal?

Too much bouncing around, just want to chill. We are thinking about doing some chartered boat tours and cruise the French Riviera, touch down on some more remote beach spots, if there is such a thing haha.

charter a helicopter to some small, inaccessible beach in the Mediterranean (but close to where you are staying)
