    Default Eddie Maurice getting sued.

    https://calgarysun.com/opinion/colum...wbv7wEmkmE5P_4

OKOTOKS — Eddie Maurice is being sued for more than $100,000. An intruder hit by the ricocheting bullet of a warning shot is doing the suing.

    But that’s only the beginning.

Eddie was also going to be sued by the Government of Alberta until Monday afternoon, when that bureaucratic stupidity got put to bed right quick.

This shit is fucked, he (the homeowner) didn't do anything wrong and if you think he did you're an idiot. DON'T INTRUDE ON PEOPLE'S HOMES, the only one putting a miniscule value on your life is YOU if you decide to be a thief or a home invader.

The extreme scenario that could be used would be comparing the snooper to a peasant gleaning a landowners field for a few grains of wheat to make a loaf of bread. In which case, if the owner came at the peasant and thwacked him with a sword - then yes - there is a case here. Biblically speaking scenario of course.

In which case, definite grey area as to who is "more" in the wrong. Violent action, or simple thievery. Stuff is just stuff, but taking a life is the ultimate penalty under god.

No doubt though, there is a strong case for public endangerment, considering he could have shot a kid walking by or even a baby in a carriage on a ricochet. Anyone who has ever played a shooter videogame in their life and never accidentally shot a member of their own team, ever - is allowed to raise their hand and complain. Noone?

Now one can see how the home defender is now the most evil man in history?

Yeah... It was over an hour for the local constabulary to appear and even then they were more interested in the use of the firearm than the meth head prowling.

I know where Eddie lives, there was a field and hill between his house and mine at the time of the shooting. I wasn't worried about ricochets.

Yup. Getting shot after breaking into someones house isnt even the biggest thing to worry about. Someone breaks into my house, the next thing they know they'll be in a pit and made into a skin suit two weeks later.

Now I'm curious; if I shot at a violent & armed intruder in my home, missed, and killed an innocent person outside, what kind of trouble would I be in?

What the heck kind of gun would you be using to shoot through multiple walls and layers of walls and still having enough momentum to kill someone outside?

Kind of a ridiculous question... Have to be a huge house to use a hunting rifle inside for self defense, but have neighbours close enough to be killed outside your walls....

I was thinking someone walking by your house and it going through a window. Obviously a freak accident.

I find the outrage a little misplaced here. A guy shot at someone who was rummaging for change in a vehicle. The guy didnt pose an immediate life and death threat.

Even if we had any sort of castle type law this wouldnt be allowed.

I had my truck broken into a couple weeks back. Theres no way I'm taking shots at those thieves when their not a threat. But I suppose theres a few of us still grounded in reality.

A group of people, outside ones house in the dark, with 2 kids sleeping inside. Doing unknown.

Eddie had no way to know what they were doing. Nor should he need to. You go onto a rural property at any hour of the day or night you go straight to the house and introduce yourself. Anything else you should expect a rifle to be pointed at you.
