I wonder why nobody has ever tried to handle liquor sales with a government controlled entity? That's innovative GOLD baby!

I wonder how these businesses' theft insurance is being affected or are they even bothering to carry theft insurance?

One of my customers liquor vault was robbed twice by the same guy, he was caught and arrested. The next day after his arrest, staff spotted the same guy hanging around outside,so i'm guessing there really isn't any punishment going on out there.

I don’t know why it bothered me so much to watch this story on the news. Maybe it was just the smugness of the thieves walking in and thinking they can get away with it. And of course they did! Burns my bacon. Hate to say it, but the current punishment doesn’t fit the crime.

Maybe losing a segment of a finger for every repeat offense? Now that would be a pretty strong deterrent? Or is that talking crazy? I’m just sick of hearing how these guys get away with something so basically wrong. Wouldn’t an extreme punishment act as more of a preventative measure to stop this sort of thing? Or would it be a case of people still doing it, being punished and others crying about how inhumane it would be? Or how about something less severe like caning that doesn’t leave any lasting physical injuries? Do people still spit gum on the sidewalks of Singapore?

Then again there likely would be a need for an ongoing series of spiritual healing apologies and reconciliation payments later on by the government so corporal punishment is likely a win lose proposition in the long run.

They do not have activate theft insurance for these, as I asked my buddy what they are doing about the current ~$2000+/week in stolen liquor and he said they are waiting for corporate approval to higher a security guard as they cost close to $20/hour and hoping that will curb a bunch of it. As ~$1000/week in guard wages is better than the stolen liquor losses plus gives a bit of ease to some of the staff.

Percentages are fucked up in the news constantly. My favourite is when a number doubles, they call it a "200% increase" . There's real confusion in the difference between the amount you multiply a number by, and the amount that the percentage increase is.

    Example. Year 1: 100, Year 2: 200, 100 x 200% = 200.
