I've been debating upgrading to a 4" filter setup. Definitely some appeal for many reasons.

Don’t overthink, just do it. Zero downside.

Have a single intake plenum thats servicing 2 furnaces. Lots of tin bashing required.

Who has the best pricing on parts for this? I looked around but don't really know what I am looking for and am thinking of going this route once my box is done.

The 2 largest wholesale suppliers in Calgary that take cash sales are BGE filters and Dafco.

    Take it from TPiM:

If you are not buying filters wholesale, you are paying 10x too much. Go to Dafco or BGE filters here in Calgary and learn the ridiculous markup retail stores have on air filters. Buy a full box of filters for yourself or split it up with family and friends.

Locally made BGE filters. Decent price, decent filter. Started when someone else mentioned them on Beyond a few years ago.

I've mentioned it before, but Dafco and BGE filters are local manufacturers in Calgary on Blackfoot Tr. You can buy a box of filters there for 1/4 to 1/3 the price of Amazon or any retail outlet.

Sinclair Supply is a good option as well.

So I hear Dafco and BGE are better than https://alberta.furnacefilters.ca/? Hmm. Have an "art project" for which I need a box of Merv13 filters. 20x20 or 20x25.

Home depot will be having their furnace filter sale starting Thursday. The sale will be $9.98 for a 3 pack of filters, April 20-26th

guess I am totally slow but looked at BGE and Dafco but how do I find products they sell?
My current place needs the Aprilaire 410 filters and looks like only alberta.furnacefilters.ca sells them at $123 for a pack of 2 (about $60 each) is that a fair price?

sort of on the same topic, I want to get additional filters for our HRV model VHR150R any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

My old furnace had those reusable metal filters that I would clean by running water thru it. Can you still get those instead of paper filters or did they get rid of it due to lack of recurring g revenue? Feels like such a waste going thru a filter a month (my fan runs 24/7).

They're sold right beside aluminum hockey sticks.
    Woodward's has them.

I have these too. But mine also have some electro magnetic element in them, so I have to plug them in and power them.

sorry if this was debated or already discussed in the past, for my old 24 year old furnace (Carrier) which I replaced last year, I use to run cheap filters that is like a MPR300 (merv5-6?) simply because as soon as I use higher rated ones my furnace would shutdown due to overheat. Now with a stage 2 Goodman furnace, does anyone know what higher rating filters would offer better filtration yet not restrictive enough to hurt or damage the unit?

What size filter? I believe the consensus is slowly starting to be that you can put a MERV-9999 if your filter is 4" thick while anything higher than a MERV-8 in a 1" thick filter seems much more likely to choke the furnace.

The more you run the fan, the more it picks up and catches whatever's in the air into your HVAC system and not settle on your shit in your house.

Fan runs at a low speed all day.
Furnace filters are barely dirty after 6 months.

For everything else, there is the help.
