Business travel - wardrobe tips

Beyond has lots of fashionistas who travel. What's some tips for clothing that handles the rigor of packing etc, and still looks good?

I really hate ironing, so any system that minimizes that would be good. Some of my meetings are fine for jeans and a polo shirt, but sometimes you gotta look a little more corporate. I was thinking instead of a suit or sportcoat a vest would have be a nice option.

I'm far from an expert in business travel, but a few tips from my travels for weddings:

1) Use a suitcase that facilitates folding dress clothes properly to minimize wrinkles/creases (lots of videos on YouTube on how to do this)
2) Buy non-iron dress shirts
3) Pack a small handheld steamer so you can quickly fix any garment (these are the best, provided you are traveling with checked baggage)
4) Wear the hardest to pack pieces on the plane, if reasonable to do so
5) Most airlines will let you hang up your suit bag in one of their 'closets' if you ask nicely, or you can lay it flat in the overhead bins

I'm sure others will have lots more suggestions.

Fold jackets shoulder to shoulder, then flip inside out, roll... roll everything. I stuff my clothes (rolled) into a backpack every morning and I never have wrinkles. Even those damn delicate eton shirts

T shirt and shorts for me so can’t help ya there. Roll everything Mary condo style like ercchry says. Zero wrinkles.

It also helps to put things in bags before you roll them... the clear bags you get when you pick your stuff up from the dry cleaners.

I've also had luck just folding pants and jacket normally in my hard side carry on. If it's mostly empty I can get away doing putting a suit and a shirt in one side of it and it comes out fine.

I usually just bring non-iron dress shirts. I would hang up my suits and shirts in the bathroom as soon as I get to the hotel and take a hot shower. The steam takes out all the major wrinkles

Yes. Agreed. Rolling shirts help a lot on space and minimize creases. So long as you roll it properly with no wrinkles/unwanted creases.

I'll have to see how that works. I usually do carry on only, so there isn't a lot of space.

It's cakewalk to fit a week's worth of business casual attires in a carry-on with a pair of shoes. Just have to plan ahead on outfits. Two weeks is doable as well but you must accept that you'll have to do laundry (or get it laundered/dry cleaned).

I need to pull my life together apparently. I find it challenging. Or just stop whining, but that seem unlikely.

Non-iron dress shirts

fold pant in thirds...I find I like this better than rolling.

I get to the hotel and spend 30min unpacking and hanging up my clothes, and 90% of the time, by the time I go to ear them, they're presentable.

The old school method, and one I use if things got really scrunched, is to hang up everying on the shower curtain using a hanger, and turn the shower on to full blast hot for 15min. Leave the door closed while doing this. Then put everything in the closet and they all wrinkle free.

I recently started buying dress shirts from Marks Work Warehouse...find the slim fit dress shirts...they're thick, non-wrinkle, and very good quality. Other than that I'm a RW sale rack, or Banana Republic Outlet kind of guy for nice dress clothes on the cheap.

I can easily fit a full work week into one carry-on suit case. 5 shirts, 3 pairs of pants, underwear, stuff your socks into shoes. Good times!
