    Default Saudi Arabia. Riyadh

So my wife is going to Riyadh for a quick trip in about a week, only about 3 or 4 days there. The owners of Screamfest, now HEX, and Cobb's Adventure Park were approached by the Saudi Arabia government to help them set up a scare event in order to expose their populace to more western traditions/events.

As my wife has done all the hiring plus has managed the Screamfest event for 10 years now, she has been selected to go there along with the two owners and another employee to train the event organizers there. My wife will also be involved in the hiring there.

So what should she expect? We've got a travel adapter/converter, she has acquired several scarves and the two women on the trip will be provided with additional garments if needed.

What else (out of the ordinary) should she take or be aware of when there? She will take a small amount of local currency and we've set up WhatsApp on her cell.phone but as we are not seasoned travellers by any means, I think we could be missing some things.

Suggestions and/or warnings would be greatly appreciated. The success of this trip could morph into other opportunities world wide.
    Will fuck off, again.

Don't have any tips as I've never ventured there, but good for her! Always a good thing to travel and get exposed to other cultures etc, AND, she's getting paid and a free trip. Ok, I'm assuming that last part. Loooong way to go for only 3-4 days. See if she can make a week out of it. Bring something that might help with the jet lag? I've taken non-drowsy Gravol when I've had to work after not sleeping for a few days. For me it helped a lot.

Take a few drones, but be sure to upgrade to the best hardware with high accuracy.

Yeah, she's getting paid but has to be back because of she has to go up to Edmonton to assist them with the Screamfest event up there.

On the plus side, it'll be the first time in 14 years that I won't be the only one home for Halloween.

I haven't heard much but I think my sister has been there. Descriptions are consistent among themes of "it's like getting off a plane into the 1400's and don't forget that women aren't people".

Definitely get educated about their customs and laws - even though it has been relaxed, somewhat over the last decade.

A colleague of mine was in KSA for work and they decided to go driving one night somewhere and ended up being hit by a drunk Arab driver.

Even with witnesses, they got 100% of the blame and were tossed in prison for weeks before they were released and I think they just left the country (never to return).

Unless you're getting life changing money from this, do not go IMO. Not worth the risk. They don't fuck around there and women aren't even considered human beings.

Canadian government lists risk as "high" as well.

Have a read through the British foreign office posting about warnings or hazards.
    https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/saudi-arabia

Have a brief read about cultural norms. But she will be fine.
If she is into buying gold. It might be a good place.

I just asked my wife if she would go to Saudi Arabia for a week for $250,000 and she said no way. Half a mill she said she might consider it.

I've never been so I can't comment from first-hand experience, but I do know people in that area treat women differently, as others have mentioned. hope she's getting paid a ton of cash for this!

The country is a debacle - the number of Theology majors is so high that they have to import talent from elsewhere to get major projects going as very few locals are educated in this matter.

Even Emirates (out of the UAE) is offering huge sums to locals to come work for them, but no one does. https://simpleflying.com/emirates-workforce-3-emirati/

The moment OG dies, is when the KSA folds up - although I think they have started to realize this the past 5 years.

lol, you guys are making it sound like she's going to North Korea or something. I don't have experience traveling there but I would say she will be just fine as long as doesn't break any laws and wears the proper attire.

Saudi would be North Korea if it didn't have its oil reserves.

Why the fuck anyone would go there voluntarily, especially if they're sporting a vag, is beyond me.

Not Riyadah, but similar values (Dubai) - guy touched someones hip in a bar and got 3 months in jail:

If that was a woman she'd probably be stoned to death.
