The Greta Cometh!
The Greta Cometh!
"The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents... some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new Dark Age."
-H.P. Lovecraft
Is she going to China to protest so her financial backers/scripters can meddle with their election too? Oh, wait.......

I say stupid shit all the time.
I actually have no issue with any 16 year old kid that gets involved and cares about there future. Whether you agree with her or not, it is not a bad thing when youth are engaged in what is happening in the world. I kind of feel a bit sorry for her actually. She is getting thrust into the limelight and is being spoon fed all her talking points and doesn't have enough life experience to see the forest through the trees. One day she will be dropped from public eye and she will be in for a huge awakening. It is not much different than child stars who all of a sudden are forgotten and do not know how to deal with being a nobody and end up going off the rails. I hope she is prepared for that and can move on to a normal life and avoid the pitfalls.
I have no issue with her engagement either BUT it's pretty clear with the focus and timing this is being done with direct intention to affect the public mindset before the federal election and none of that is being orchestrated by her. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. I don't think it's a coincidence that her team has her here conveniently one week before the election, and I say her team because I still doubt she is the true mastermind behind her rise. I'd bet this week's lunch money that one of the Federal parties reached out aggressively to Greta's team to get her here to try and take some wind out of the PCP's sails. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. I hope she enjoys her visit and that people treat her with respect. If we in Alberta want to improve how we are seen, we need to welcome those with opposing views and have intelligent conversations. And for pete's sake, she's just a kid. I commend her for her courage and tenacity and hope that she accepts fact, reason, and dialogue in her campaign.

who doesnt like foreigners meddling in their elections? Definitely not a coincidence that she's here right now. So much for JT creating a unified country.

I think that's the idea, strike while the iron is hot. Could go any way too, maybe the Greens will get some 18 year old voters. Very few things panic old white men, but angry screaming girls shaking fists do have an effect. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

We dont have a unified country. We have, now, a country with vastly (and increasing over time) different values in different regions. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Some regions are hippy socialists and some regions are hard core libertarian.
What we need is decentralization of power from Ottawa. For eg. - let the provinces create criminal and environmental laws - according to their constituents.
I'm for more provincial powers and less say from Ottawa, but pipelines are clear federal jurisdiction and we need a government to stand up and get these projects built.
This. The rhetoric so far is embarrassing..This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Alberta has a reputation for a reason. This thread (and many like it) clearly shows why.

Yes yes. The UN's Youth Climate Summit, Greta's surge in popularity worldwide, media attention etc were engineered by Soros and timed perfectly just to fuck with Canada's election. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

You're extrapolating purposefully beyond what he meant. Adding a pitstop in Alberta a week before the election is the obvious insertion to impact the election, not her entire persona. But you already knew that. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

As I'm sitting on the thrown, I think what you guys have done here is profound.
Seriously. Single handedly you whipper snippets uncovered such a devious plot by Soros the madman mastermind. You may have just saved our democracy!
In the future, you will be celebrated with singing and dancing! Maybe even folk tales of your cunning wit!
Bravo!

The myth of Alberta "clean" oil.
"A 2018 paper, published in the journal Science, compared upstream emissions estimates from 8,966 different oil fields in 90 countries. It ranked Canada’s average oil output fourth-most intensive in the world, behind only Algeria, Venezuela and Cameroon and well above the global average and rates of other major producers such as the United States, Russia, China and Saudi Arabia. Of the 34 Canadian oil sands operations measured in this study, led by Stanford University researchers, none fell below the global midpoint for emissions. Ten were double that mark; five of those were triple or higher."
"Extracted bitumen is roughly the consistency of peanut butter, notes Joule Bergerson, co-author of the Science paper and professor of chemical petroleum engineering at the University of Calgary, so it naturally requires more energy than conventional crude to convert to gasoline. Oil sands generally sit in the top quartile in global oil emissions intensity, she says—though there’s a range depending on the type of operation and the quality of the deposit. “Our best is better than most in the heavy oil category,” she says. “But the worst [of our emitters are] on the high end.”
