    Default Gaming/Home Office Monitor

Couldn’t really find what I wanted in search, but these are my criteria:

I sit roughly 3’ away from the monitor, and I have two options. Wall mount, or free stand.

Games I play are Divinity2, Bloodbowl 2 and It’ll be dual purpose for work. Plugging in my ROG laptop for personal, and a surface pro for work duties.

I’m not a big time gamer, but my ROG 15.6” is tough sometimes.

    21.5 or 24”? 27 even?

Budget I’d like to live in the 200 zone, maybe even 300 and one last criteria:

Might want to do a dual screen so I have the three monitor functionality with my surface pro. Mimicking my office setup at work.

    Thanks beyond.

I sit maybe 2' away from my 27" and feels just right. Overall I like this as I only need one monitor really at home with a large real estate (or I can't figure out how to edit photos well with two monitors). For work purposes though, I couldn't live with one monitor.

    Have you considered an Ultrawide?
They're pretty good for multi-tasking without taking up the table space of 2 monitors. I also like that there's less of a "center" monitor and a "side monitor"
Can full screen apps when you need, and split screen them for productivity. Add the laptop monitor for a faux-triple.

I have this one I bought used for $200 a few years back.

Just be sure to reconsider the sizing because my 25" was only about as tall as a 17" wide. Also check to make sure the resolution will work for you.

Here's one slightly over $200 budget

I have no idea if curves actually add anything to the experience so someone else can chime in

For an office a 27" 1440p monitor will be PLENTY of space. The 1440p pixel density allows a lot of screen real estate.

1080p is rough for office work due to the vertical height limits and would only suggest 16:10 for that.

Ultrawide is an option but again, not worth it unless you get into 1440p resolutions but then your costs soar through the roof for anything good.

You should be able to pickup a decent 27" 1440p monitor for a good price now as they are far more common and popular.

I picked up a Phillips 27” 4K that is great for light gaming and productivity. Really happy with it so far.

Only hiccup is I needed to use USB-C to DisplayPort to get 4k@60. Nothing a 10 dollar cable form amazon didn’t fix.

I feel like I only paid 250 or so for it on sale. But overall I really like the 27”@4K

I personally don't suggest 4k for office type work due to pixel density, but everyone is different in this.

If you are thinking about 4k for a desktop I'd suggest looking at one in a store first.

    Thanks for the help guys.

I’m leaning toward a 4K as I’m thinking of updating my cpu soon too.

Laptops are cool, but with tablets I can go to a dedicated tower and be cheaper.

    3' is really far.

I'm sitting at 2'. Dual 24" 1080p at work with a 15" 1080p as third screen and it feel right.

At home, I have a single 34" 1440p ultrawide. Doing a dual screen with a laptop with this screen is a bit of a stretch.

Windows doesn't scale well when not at native resolution. So I would not recommend 4K for working set up. Few GPUs can really drive games at 4K without drop in frames anyway.

    Update,

    24” Asus 144Hz refresh.

On sale from Memex, $230. Can’t complain, it’s excellent for the money.

Can double that, likely will in the near future.

I have a 144hz 24" LG gaming monitor that I'd sell for half that if you're interested?
