Pretty much in line with most automakers 4 year refresh cycles.

Sure except it's in its 7th year of production. Which I suppose is better than the Model S's 12th year.

Looked up the changes, basically adding shit that the cheapest cars already have. wireless chargers for phones up front, seat coolers, rear HVAC controls, but still no 360 camera.

Small changes, but overall an improvement I'd say. Still think Tesla does an amazing job of the "we are not a car company" thing. I have stopped betting against them.

More US price drops, will have to see what trickles into Canada.

Removed SR model for the S and X.

    New lineup & prices:
    • Model S LR: $74,990 (from $88,490)
    • Model S Plaid: $89,990 (from $108,490)

    • Model X LR: $79,990 (from $98,490)
    • Model X Plaid: $89,990 (from $108,490)

Even with 20% discounts, I think X and S are over priced for models that are long in the tooth. Resale is going to take a big hit for X and S owners.

I also wonder what resale looks like for the 3. Sounds like Canada is going to get the Chinese made ones which seem to be more desirable than the US made ones.

I went and drove a Model 3 LR AWD today.

Pretty good actually - first Tesla experience. For the current price, it's probably one of the best bets.

As a lifelong car guy it pains me to say the Model 3 is a really, really, good car. I've never owned a vehicle before that was just so easy to operate and own. It's the best commuter car I've ever driven. It's only been a year but my Model 3 Performance has had absolutely no issues and I've not been back to the dealer since the day I picked it up. I really don't like Elon and hate that he's had this amount of success but I expect these refreshed Model 3's will be even better if they truly improved the ride.

I know the range on the Tesla site is estimated but is it normalish for the Y LR to only get around 300kms semi loaded up? My buddy took his to Fernie and he had to top off in the south just as we left(lives in the nw burbs) and then had to go Ft macleod to charge a bit more. It said he couldve made it to Fernie with about 4% left had he went straight from the south end of Calgary after the top up but he didnt want to risk it. 22 model with 2 people and 2 bikes on hitch carrier

    How fast was he going?

If I drove the speed limit, I could get to Edmonton from my house. I usually have to stop in Red Deer for 5-10 minutes at normal QE2 speeds.

If you go 60km/h, you can go 500km or more.

Pretty sure the bikes on the hitch carrier was his biggest range killer. Even with a roof box on only, I get 15-20% less range. Does he know his Wh/km?

And no stalks. Turning signal is on steering wheel. Drive control is now a screen swipe.

Sounds like suspension and NVH improvement is good tho.

So kinda true then if you can just make it to Edmonton. Im not sure how fast he was going because I went up in my own car but couldnt have been much faster than the speed limit if his range wasnt even 300kms, Fernies actually only 270km from where he last charged in Calgary. What type of range are you guys getting if you're going around 130-140kmhr?

The bike rack for sure had an affect on it and he even mentioned with his box he was getting less range

Not a model 3 but in my Ioniq 5 I get 550-600km in the city. 400-450km if I’m doing 90ish and then 350-380ish if I’m doing 120-130km/hr. And like 280-300km when I was doing 140+ uphill on the Coq to Merritt so that’s about worst case scenario.

Cargo boxes will also make it a fair bit worse too.

As much as I hate the idea, I think I might start shopping for a used Tesla. How does one even go about that? Do you ask for maintenance records like a normal car, or confirm the battery health like an iphone and be on your way? Things to look out for? I googled it, and the internet was pretty useless.

Generally they have little to no maintenance to do. So I’d just check tires, battery health, then body / interior condition.
