I think once the facelift comes out, the old style will have another price drop. Just something to consider before buying. Keep an eye on the inventory as mentioned, a month ago there were a lot of model 3s available at pretty good prices.
    They were excellent prices.

Based on this, I would suggest model 3 pricing will see another big slash in a month.

I wonder what shopping for a used model 3 long range down south looks like. There might be opportunity there if our dollar rebounds a bit.

As polarizing as the looks of the Cybertruck are (I'm of the "my kids can design something better" crowd), you can't argue with the tech and performance of the CT. The steer-by-wire thing is an ingenious idea, at least for a truck of this size. Not everyone's cup of tea but the CT isn't meant to be driven on a track either, other than maybe on the dragstrip. Straight line performance, unless you get into the supercar territory, no other EV can beat Tesla's power delivery. Range is TBD, especially with towing, but it's rated at a whopping 11k lbs and we know Tesla's engineers are efficiency-whores so it's going to be best of its league. Software & charging network, without a doubt, the best in the EV market. Practicality wise, aside from the relatively small frunk compared to the other EV trucks, I can see this being used as a solid work truck...as long as you're a (Tesla) mother who thinks all their kids are beautiful. The 48V "low voltage" battery system is really advanced compared to the old 12V architecture and something the general car market should have moved on from (the 12V) decades ago. And even more so on the 800V high voltage system to reduce wire gauge sizes due to not needing to run as much current (amperage) to get the same power output. Stainless steel body doubles as both practically un-dentable, as well as structural rigidity (pedestrian safety aside). Really, the engineering on the Cybertruck is top of its game! Just wish they hired my kids to draw it instead...

That was a really good Hagerty video I thought.

was the stainless body really necessary?
Would you drive to the NE with anything less than a bullet resistant truck?

Serious question, how long before people start shooting at these because they want to "test" the bullet resistance?

That it was! Glad my "personal opinions" made for a good summary of the Hagerty vid.

In all seriousness though, if the Cybertruck didn't look the way it does, and resembled something more like an R1T, I'd be all over getting one. Until then, I'll keep drooling over an R1T. Too bad its price is a bit beyond reach at the moment.

    Darkane/JustinL

Do you recall approximate (pre-tax/pre-rebate) Pricing from a month ago for a 2023 SR RWD? Everything I see online shows prices were dropped 5k from 58ish to the current 53ish(pre-tax and rebate) when cuts happened.

    Were prices lower than that?

Also, on a side note for model 3 owners; are your premiums quite a bit higher than an ICE vehicle? Like 65%higher?

    Appreciate everyone’s feedback thus far!

    Thanks!

I could almost stomach the exterior looks, but Tesla interiors always ruin it for me.

When I buy a 100K vehicle, I expect a high end interior that has been thought out.... not a Super 8 hotel room and a half-a-steering wheel.

I agree with you, the R1T just seems like a complete package that is more appealing.

There are some fucked up things about the CT too... like the front window is the largest single glass pane in the entire automotive industry. How much is that going to cost when it gets cracked? lol

I was actually browsing the LR AWD and I think they were around 62,000 -5k izev. But that's just by memory. There's 2 in Edmonton at 63,300 now, which is still a pretty good price. I'd still wait for the facelift to drop before doing anything though.

I honestly have to credit Tesla's marketing above anyone else. The fact that many Tesla owners have been convinced to cheer for minimalism is astounding.

When I was close to buying, I was 59k OTD, and slightly less if I used my friends Tesla code.

The cars were still roughly 5k less than msrp shows now. That was for a LR Awd, in grey. The $0 colour.

When they have one in the city to test drive, can one of our local Tesla bros take me to the dealership for a ride? I doubt I'd be allowed through the door without an escort.

You'll have better service if you DON'T show up in a Tesla. All the salesbros know that Tesla-fanbois know more about their vehicles than they do, so they don't even bother giving the fanbois the light of day, especially since all the purchases are done online anyway. With that said, I'd be happy to drop you off a block away if you'd like. Just use my referral when you buys, muahaha!

Did they fix the weak upper control arms on these cyber trucks? You’d think such a heavy truck would come with beefed up control arms after all the bent ones on the Model 3

I don't think any of the "delivered" Cybertruck owners have posted much about the mechanical findings yet. Time will tell I guess... I'm pretty sure the exposed bolt picture that's been floating around was a pre-production model anyway. It would be stupid for any manufacturer to send a product out looking like that.

As for the Model 3 UCAs, they were never bent. They did squeak like no tomorrow though due to not packing enough grease into the ball joints and not having any zerx fittings to regrease. I actually just replaced both my FUCA's with aftermarket Meyle (German brand from my Audi days) ones just this past weekend. Significantly better product than the OEM UCAs.

Adding grease zerks to the vehicle is (sadly) not a Tesla exclusive.

They've only delivered a dozen, pretty clear those would be hand selected people so doubt much will get said of them.

The more people talk about the cybertruck the worse it sounds. One big part of it is they moved to 48V for everything rather than 12V. In theory it makes sense to use higher voltage as it takes less current to drive the windows / seats / heater / etc. But it also means that pretty much every piece of electronics in the CT would be original as there's no supply chain for 48V parts. That's a lot to hope things don't break down the road.
