It’s going to be interesting how Tesla navigates the next few years. They clearly had first mover advantage and their widespread charging network but many other EV makers, especially those overseas, are winding up their production and also building factors in North America to qualify for the tax credits. And with Tesla sharing their charging network it’s going to be interesting to see how they do in 2025.

I believe the model 3 doesn’t even qualify for the full $7500 tax credit in the US as of next month as well. A big driving factor is many other EVs only get a partial credit giving Tesla a huge cost to buy advantage right now.

Tons of EVs are getting 1/2 of $7500 next year. Not just Tesla.

If the battery has an ounce of Chinese tech/processed mineral, rebate cut by 1/2.

I’m convinced the end game with Tesla is not to be the leading EV maker, but to own the majority of EV charging infrastructure/license their standard formats/etc. The cars were just a means to an end.

It would be nice if crazy guy accelerated his plans for Mars. I'm personally getting really tired of his act.

After watching the reviews on the Cybertruck it makes me want it even more. That thing is just absolutely incredible performance wise and tech wise. Im curious to see how "affordable" it'll be once it actually hits production fully.

Insurance on my Model 3 performance was by far the most expensive vehicle I've ever insured despite owning more expensive cars. I'm curious how much these will cost to insure with the stainless steel panels.

Can you share more details? I too noticed that increase when I went electric.

I was looking at teslas two months ago, but if it’s another grand or two a year to insure, it sure eats into the savings portion.

The hysterical anti-E-vehicle zealots claim that the insurance is way more money because of the risk of a battery fire that "only the urine of Poseidon can extinguish".
Maybe there's a portion of truth in that...

I paid ~$1,300/yr on my 2013 Audi S4, and now pay ~$1,400/yr on my 2018 Model 3 Perf. Full coverage, less glass, and combined with my home insurance & the wife's car (2017 Model X). Deductible is $1,000, but even at $500 ded, price only increases some $100-150/yr (I'm just a cheapskate, that's all). No accidents, a couple minor speeding tickets in the last 3-10 yrs, nothing else. I'm now 40 y/o and have been insured since I was 16 - all in Alberta. So I wouldn't say my insurance has really gone up - marginally at best. Probably a bunch of other factors in play if you guys are paying "thousands more" than with an ICE.

Meh. The Ford with the winch would have got stuck in the snow there too. Looks greasy, best tires win.

Currently with Intact. But I go through a broker - a beyonder actually. Forgot his username but his real name's Bill Eckhart from Touchstone Insurance: https://touchstoneinsurance.ca/contact-us/ I'm sure one of you guys knows his username as he used to promote his business on here a lot back in the day.

I’m with him as well. And we have squeaky clean claims records but manage to still get boned no matter who quotes us haha.
