Default Simple Free Animation software for functional schematics

Trying to animate something incredibly simple, just trying to show the function of a tool at work. The animation I want is A-L-M-O-S-T simple enough for me to animate in powerpoint, but not quite. Need basically MS Excel quality graphics with very basic ability to animate the elements. My gizzogle searches have shown me cartoon animation software, and more complex 3d CAD animation software, but that's much more difficulty than I'm hoping for.

    Suggestions?

Also, how many of you remember gizoogle? It's still out there, and still makes me giggle: http://www.gizoogle.net/

Glad you enjoyed that. It's a rare light in these dark times. Anyone out there have thoughts on my question though?

I looked at a few of the options suggested above, and then realized what I really want to do is use the built-in features in Powerpoint. So I'm building my animation right there. So far its's got the functionality I need, even if it is a bit clunky.

Just a little follow-up, MS Powerpoint was totally the correct tool to accomplish my goals for this project. I think the animation capabilities have been improved since I did this type of work last, which would have been several software versions ago.

It took me a while to become familiar with the tool and it's options, but I now have an animation I'm comfortable letting my salespeople use "unsupervised" and it's something I can tweak for custom applications when our customers want to do things in an atypical fashion. Today I'm making a custom animation for one client who is using a combination of our tools that probably no other company will ever.
