"The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents... some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new Dark Age."

if you like playing diablo type of games then it is worth it. I played extensively during the beta but now that is out, I'm slowly playing it.
will see how the end-game is later on but so far Im just enjoying exploring, doing side quests and the story. have a lvl 15 rogue right now, not really liking the playstyle and might create a barb.
I think the seasons requiring you to start over a new char is going to kill this for casuals like me.
Took me the entirety of season 0 just to finish the campaign
Pretty annoyed at playstation being little bitches and holding up the activision deal, I want to be able to play Diablo on xcloud on my phone lol. Perfect game for that, easy to pick up nuke a dungeon then turn off.

They are kind of different games though. Diablo 4 is much more accessible to the masses. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
What really? What happens to your character? That would be a deal-breaker for meThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

They stay in the “eternal realm” and can’t access any of the new seasons content.

Wait a second. You can play casually for 6 months, maybe beat the game, maybe not, and then have to start over and lose everything? Am I understanding that right?

Yea that's a big no from me then

Fuck games that bring in "Seasons".. just a way to money grab the players. Was thinking of picking this up but not now.
I don’t think the seasons are a big deal. You can still play your main on campaign and finish it. The season only unlocks some new things like a new pet or mount if you complete certain objectives.
That said I’m not loving d4, I’m level 36 and will continue to play through but no set items no flaming or lighting weapons makes it kinda lame so far.
I'm getting my monies worth, but there's enough lacking that I'm not in love with it. Even playing with old school D2 friends, and we all agree it's 6.5/10
My personal gripe is the world levelling. You never feel like you're increasing in power because the enemies are too.

Like in D2, you could go back to Act 1 and crush everything instantly. But in D4, all the enemies scale to your level?

Yeap. I used to enjoy going back and slaughtering low levels for fun. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

my buddy is lvl 75 and he came to play with me just to shoot the shit and explain some things. He could one shot all the bosses and didn't need to defend at all. so you can definitely go back and demolish at some level.
I've been enjoying it so far. Got a 70+ necro and rogue, have no problems killing level 90+ enemies. I'll probably play the first season, then go back to eternal unless there's some major benefits. I couldn't be bothered to do some of the stuff each season, although for some things like campaign and liliths, once you do it once, you don't have to do it over and over for new seasons or characters; it transfers over.
I officially hate the leveling now. I didn't bother with the new season and just kept going with my original character. I was having enough fun doing T3 dungeons and bosses and shit and suddenly realized I was at lvl.70. So beat the capstone and moved up to T4. Now I'm completely fucked. T3 only drops level 60 items, so now I'm fighting level 72+ monsters with shit gear for my level and can't do any dungeons and can only just barely grind away at Whisper rewards, like I can only do the ones that give you 1 whisper at a time. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. I'll have to try again with a new character in a few seasons when it's winter and I'm bored. I'm done for now.

My understanding is the character you play in S1 will be able to transfer to eternal at the end of the season. Oddly enough I started a Necro in S1 and he's already 65 so the levelling for me was way faster as it took I believe around 12 hours to get to there focusing on dungeons and whispers. The season gems are way overpowered as I did the first capstone at 31 and the second at 54, both of which was about 10 levels earlier then I was able to do them with my previous character.
I also agree with the walking back and stomping, I helped my buddy level from 5-40 on Saturday over a a few hours and we did the capstone for him at level 18 so he could go into tier 3 and speed level. I didn't have to do anything but auto attack and could easily down the bosses with 2-3 bone spears so I would say going backwards is very easy when it comes to specific tiers. My only grip is the extreme difference between tier 3 & 4. I can walk through a max tier nightmare dungeon on tier 3 and then have to play like a ninja in a standard tier 4 dungeon.

Your tears fuel me
I beat the game with a lvl43 rogue the day before S1 came out, started a barb and man he's slow at moving and killing compared to my rogue, he's lvl 29 now as I only play for about an hour every day before getting bored.
Just enjoying collecting all Altar of Lilith's and side quests so end game is still a mystery to me.
I'm enjoying exploring the open world as it is still new to me, but I think I had more fun farming and grinding D2LOD.
