    Ok Boomer.

I don't see people barking at Jimmy Kimmel or Jimmy Fallon in the 2000 for doing blackface?! Clearly, you like to crucify JT for any reason possible.
Fantastic whataboutism! You're referring to Suntan, who never used a whataboutism, but was only commenting on another whataboutism from the commentator on the Social. And then you threw in "OK Boomer" too... You so woke.

Instead of the whataboutism (no one in this thread has brought up Kimmel or Fallon, except you), can you argue against what Suntan said? The panelists on the Social basically said that it was OK that Trudeau wore blackface because it was 20 years ago, he said he was ""sorry" and - most importantly of all, I guess - acknowledged his "privilege"... So, in reference to Suntan's post, do you think blackface was OK in 1999?

    I'm Gen X. We're the original Millennials.

And yeah, those guys should've have gotten into trouble. But they're liberals, so it's okay.

Yes apparently it was since we have folks from national TV shows who wore blackface in extremely racist manners back in the early 2000's and no one batted an eye at the time. Go actually watch what was shown on SNL and tell that's in any ways shape or form comparable to some random picture of a fictional movie character. It's a mistake to judge the past with the values of the present. What used to be Ok 20 years ago isn't remotely what is Ok nowadays.

Recognize that you're arguing with ideologically driven people who are willing to ignore social norms/changes in our society when it suits their argument. The vilification of Trudeau is justified in many areas, but I don't believe this is one of them.

Why are these same people not railing on Scheer for telling LGBTQ people to effectively fuck off in 2005? He spoke his mind in front of the House of Commons, and in doing so he basically told my brother that he doesn't deserve to get married and isn't able to have the same rights as other people because he's gay. That's pretty shit.

But yet, and especially so on beyond, we constantly hear about Trudeau's blackface. you&me's comments re: blackface being okay because we aren't vilifying Trudeau is hilariously tone-deaf. It's not because "he's a liberal, and it's okay"; it's because it was 20 years ago. Then again, it's not like the guy did much to atone for his dumbassedness, by the way, outside of reforming immigration policies, encouraging a diverse cabinet, accepting refugees from struggling nations, etc.

And nobody is saying that Trudeau's blackface was totally okay and very cool; most people acknowledge how dumb and racist it was. Dude almost lost his government over it. Who's let him off the hook? The only reason he won is because Scheer was worse than Trudeau in the eyes of many Canadians.

But ya. What about Trudeau, amirite?

GenX are completely different from millennials. GenX are unmotivated, millennials are incapable, boomers are unselfishly greedy.

As for the war conflict generation, no idea whats going on in their heads.

So how do you guys feel about these comments from this random chick on TV Jessica Allen? (Can’t find a good link will keep looking, check your Facebook front page haha)

I feel like this is where the double standard will kick in and because it goes with the narrative these days it will be ok what she said lol.. but I mean it was pretty ridiculous in my opinion.

    Edit: https://www.facebook.com/17345245949...3?vh=e&sfns=cl

    Does that work?
    I'm offended.

Where do I file my complaint?

She says Cherry's comment are divisive and then rips on all hockey parents/families/players. HAH!

You took my post entirely wrong and could you please point to the part where I said or implied blackface was OK?

Let me spell this out for you so you can follow along (I'll even type s-l-o-w-l-y, because it seems you might need it) -

JfuckinC and Kertejud2 each posted a video of the panel on the Social discussing the Don Cherry firing.

The hosts on the Social brought up the JT blackface scandal (the first whataboutism that my post referred to), but proceeded to say it was OK, because a) it was 20 years ago (fair point) b) he apologized (ok, I guess) and, seemingly most importantly to them, c) he acknowledged his "privilege" (talk about preaching to the choir).

Suntan seemingly took issue with the fact that the hosts on the Social were Ok with the JT blackface for points a, b & c above. Nothing more.

KLCC came along with the second whataboutism out of left field, by referencing Kimmel and Fallon. He then tried to imply that Suntan was trying to find an excuse to attack Trudeau, when all his post did was point out the seeming hypocrisy of the Social panelists. And then he topped it off with the current whopper of leftist insults; "Ok Boomer", as if that really drove home his point.

My post, that you totally misread and took incorrectly, was simply asking why Suntan pointing out the hypocrisy of the Social hosts required a whataboutism retort, as if that was the only thing KLCC could comment on, rather than the actual substance of his post.

    So to recap -

I didn't bring up Trudeau; the hosts on the Social did.

I didn't defend Cherry, or blackface, or Trudeau; I only, sort of, defended Suntan (like he needs it)...

From that you determine and imply that I'm a) "ideologically driven" b) "willing to ignore social norms/changes in our society" c) think of "blackface" as "being okay"

Well, I can say that I know some recent things about Trudeau that supports that he's never grown past his frat boy stage.

Not sure what immigration policies he reformed, Canada's always been pretty permissive as long as you have some money, and relatives basically come over for free. Same with Canada's refugee policy, it's hardly changed over the decades, mostly because it's been good all along.

His diverse cabinet was only for show, I won't even bother going into that.

You're right though, his gov't paid the price, even with the huge incumbent advantage he screwed up big time. Another idiotic scandal like that and he's done for though.

I do enjoy how you also "whataboutism"ed as well though. Good thing no one's brought up Hitler.

In furtherance of the argument that the panel on the Social is comprised of clueless blowhards, I just caught an impassioned exchange among all of them discussing the needless adjustments men make to their genitals, complete with detailed reasoning regarding movement of foreskin and testicular discomfort... all of which was deemed to be an excuse to "play with the boys" at any moment.

He famously didn't come cheap, which is why the CBC was always under scrutiny for his salary. He's been HNICs highest paid personality for ages, only a handful of people in the industry make more. He was reportedly around the same salary as Bob McCown who was Sportsnet's highest paid personality, and McCown put in a lot more hours than Cherry did.
    https://www.nytimes.com/2017/12/25/s...es-corner.html

Cherry earns about $1 million a year, which is less than market value, but he does not care. He negotiates his own contracts, and the talks last about 90 seconds, he said.

“I never hold out for money,” he said. “I enjoy what I do. When I don’t enjoy it anymore, I’ll get out.”
    That was in 2017.

If there's anything I've learned, it's that being a racist white guy makes one rich.

More like, bunch of white guys alternate seven year turns paying each other, declaring bankruptcies, and put it all on the government.

Noone lends a dark guy more than a $200 payday loan, and as such - they never get to join the happy bankruptcy circle jerk.

I'm not convinced that Kanye is an actual black guy, but some sort of alien lizard overlord, like Queen Elizabeth or Hilary Clinton.

Regardless it would be crazy funny if white Alberta broke away, joined the USA - only to have Kanye pressing the nuke buttons.

This is the cringiest trend in the world today.

    1) You're not clever
    2) This doesn't change the fact you're likely a whiny little bitch who hates to hear the truth, or incapable of constructive feedback
    3) Get off your high horse
