Millenials are what, 38 or 39 now? Some of them have full grown kids.

If anything, generational names cover too wide of an age gap.
That's why they came up with the term xennials https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xennials to describe the micro generation of us that don't fit the stereotypical Millennial identification. We still got spanked, played outside, and didn't get participation trophies.

The "Karen" generation sums it up perfectly. My girlfriend is a school teacher and it is scary how parents think these days. They need to know what their kids are doing at every moment, debate curriculum, and argue about how grades are calculated etc. etc. etc. rather than focusing on the actual education those kids are receiving. I'm not sure how they expect teachers to plan lessons if they're expected to individually messaging every parent each night with a status update on how wonderful their kids are. It is also clear that their children are all perfect and would never misbehave - and any discipline is due to a problem with the teacher, rather than the student (since their kids are perfect).

Based on how I've seen Millenials parent so far (lots of screentime - mobile phones, tablets, etc.) and the use of tech to raise their kids, I can't see them being any better.

    Society is F'd.
To be fair (to be faair, to be faaaaair, TO BE FAAAAAAAAAAIR!...applaud if you get the reference) this is nothing new. My wife's a teacher and it's been like this for more than 20 years, I suspect there were pain in the ass parents long before that too, we just didn't know about it.

Nothing more millennial than needing a new name to feel special about being born in a particular 3 year period distinguishing yourself from the rest of the millennials.

What makes you assume some xennial came up with it?

If anyone was to come up with something as stupid as a micro generation. It’s millennials.

We could even further refine generations into an individual year that they were born if we would like.

    We could call it... age.

Except that wouldn't have any practical application like the xennial distinction does.

Both of my parents were teachers and my Dad spent many years as a Principal so I get your point. My grandparents were also teachers and you're right that parents have always been an issue to some extent.

The difference now, as I see it, is that with electronic communication / social media / e-mail / messaging apps parents seem to expect real-time updates on everything their kids do and it's far easier to complain via e-mail than to schedule a meeting and show up at the school. I also think people are placing more and more importance on grades (comparison culture?) so now parents are demanding explanations as to every little aspect of marking and debating how grades are allotted and so on and so forth. Back in the 90s when I was in elementary school, I seem to recall just being given a 1-5 on the report card along with a comment - not detailed spreadsheets explaining every project, assignment, and grade, making them open to debate by parents.

Too much time is being spent on bullshit administration and not enough time on learning these days.

The education doesn't matter to parents, grades are what Universities accept, not real knowledge or intelligence.

Grades are fine and dandy until you actually get into university and get your ass whooped when you realize work ethic is actually what matters.

Unless you take Liberal Arts, in which case it’s a contest of who can out woke each other.

Not to mention as soon as you've got your first job no one gives a sh*t about what your marks were. I'd hire someone with a social pulse and a little common sense over someone who managed to get a 4.0 by memorizing a bunch of obsolete textbooks any day.

Unless you want to raise your kid to spend 35 years in a big organization scratching their way to a pension there a more important things to consider. Sadly, most parents don't.
