Thinking of doing a last minute solo trip to Israel - thinking about spending a week there sometime in December. Is a week enough?
Would welcome any thoughts/recommendations, or talk me out of it?

apparently there is a travel advisory for the region
So long as you don't plan on going to Lebanon in the same trip, have fun!
Haven't been but have heard great things from friends. But, if you do go, know that once you have an Israeli stamp in your passport you may have difficulty traveling to other countries in the region.
This would be a big problem for a lot of people I know, because business travel to Oman, Dubai, Saudi is a very real possibility. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Is the problem the physical stamp in your actual passport book, or is there some way they track this digitally? A person could always get a new passport, say they lost the last one or something . . . .

That's why you bring two passports: one 'dirty'; one 'clean'This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

You just ask the passport control and have a good reason, like traveling to Israel and Lebanon on the same trip. Or if your passport went to a consulate for a visa application and you need to leave immediately. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
It's not a common thing and I only know of it with no direct experience.
Israeli chicks...

You'll need citizenship elsewhere. Canada won't give a second passport. Total pain in my arse as I was unable to get visas for a lot of countries due to my constant travels. Thankfully many countries are moving towards e-visas...This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

What other citizenship do you have?
I don't have another citizenship which means I've been unable to rock dual passports. I haven't been to countries like Russia, China, Mongolia, India, Brazil, etc. because I can't send off one passport for the visa while travelling on the other. Thankfully many countries are moving to e-Visas rather than having to send the passport to an embassy for processing. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Israel is in my top three places to visit in the world. The crisp differences between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem were astonishing and beautiful in their own ways. I can't say this enough.... GO. Fucking Go. You will not regret it.
As far as the Israeli stamp goes, if you're traveling to any Arab nation, you will have an issue. When you go thru border control in Israel, just ask for them to stamp a paper. They have them at the desk and will stamp a plain white paper for you that you've got to keep for the rest of the trip. This way when you go to any other nation, you have no record of Israel.
If that is a non-option, Passport Canada does issue a second passport but it is only for Arab nation travel. They're few and far between to obtain, but if you've got the israeli stamp in your passport and you provide proof of upcoming arab nation travel, they will issue a second one. Tons of conditions to the second one, but it's an option.
Either way - GO and definitely try the watermelon with cheese for dessert
