Huh, I did not see that coming.

With low traffic I love driving around Toronto or Vancouver far more than Calgary

Honestly I can kinda see it. Like, we have a lot of stupid drivers. But the fact that you can get from Stoney trail in the north and into the downtown core in under 20 minutes in the middle of rush hour is pretty incredible. Toronto is a nightmare to get anywhere when it's busy and Vancouver is bit better but still really bad.

Really? I guess. I think we're a bit spoiled here. It takes me 20-30 minutes to get from Coventry Hills to Heritage and Macleod every morning during rush hour. It takes me almost twice as long to get home. Having driven in LA, SF, and various others, I can say that driving here is better, IMO. Even though our rush hour sucks, try getting anywhere at anytime in LA, or SF.

Calgary does have major infrastructure issues that need to be dealt with, but it's not really that bad.

    Again, IMO.

Nobody has tried to drive South on Macleod from Downtown to Canyon Meadows at 4:30pm. Fucking nightmare.

The southwest for sure has a few pockets of really bad traffic. The rest of the city is pretty decent.

I think any city of over 1 million people will have rush hour periods that are rough, and occasional weather-related traffic, but overall its pretty decent here in Cowtown. I never thought it was amazing or world class, but I could be convinced.

Travel times is more of a volume thing and you can’t compare a city of 1.xxm to those that are 6-8x denser... with this as the criteria: “successfully utilizing infrastructure and legislation to improve conditions for vehicle users.“ it’s laughable... like to the point where I’m suspicious if money was exchanged for this title... especially with the timing of trying to get 30km/h speed limits implemented

I don't give anyone at city hall enough credit to be able to rig this kind of process. Too inept.

When i first moved to Calgary I was staying in the Brentwood area. I had a interview in the SE down near 100 St SE. I couldn't believe how long it took to travel that far in this City because of that sprawl.

I agree this seems more silly then the community ranking each year with the #1 weighed catagory being cycling and pathway access

This city just doesn’t work east/west... almost works north/south though

I was talking to my new coworkers about this the other day.

Its really what you are comparing to. I think Calgary is awesome.

One time it took my three hours to get from SE London to West London. A journey that should have taken a hour.
From my home in north west London to my friends place IN northwest London takes 25mins.
My commute to work in London was walk to the bustop. 30-40min bus ride. Then 1 hour into London (Thats on a good day). Thats on a full bus, congested tube.

My commute to work in my old job from SE Calgary to DF Mall was 40mins at most in rush hour, thats free flow traffic. If there was a incident on Deeffoot, you have options of other roads like Peigan, Barlow, 52nd, Stoney and even Macleod.

My commute now is 20mins in freeflow traffic in a CAR! I get home at 4.50pm. Its almost like I don't know what to do with my time. Its like im going to die of joy.
To get anywhere in Calgary from the SE takes 20-40mins which is nothing. Thats the whole city. THE WHOLE CITY!!! This place is amazing.

Hell noooo....That is not traffic at all. Drive from Ealing common Train station to Southall on the Uxbridge road in West London. Its almost the equivalent. That makes Macleod look like a joyride and everyone here drives automatics.

I have staff that commute 3 hours each way at a distance of 25km lol. We have it easy. It's why India is dead last on the list.

    We have it good.

And I don't see this ever changing even with a complete ring road.

Now we’re comparing 12-24m in London and ??????m in India to calgary?!?

You know what really high density areas have in common that Calgary doesn’t? ...no need to move more than walking distance for all amenities

Don't get me started. Im so hungry..
I could walk and grab a nice healthy sandwich in London. And the food in India.. omg..
Here.. im contemplating getting onto my car and driving to McDonalds.. I tried doing something healthy and went to a local deli last friday. I ended up with anal sensations and running to the loo for the rest of the evening.

Disagree, the commute from the SW/SE to NW will be cut in half. 45mins to 20mins. I can't wait.
