Supper was 5:30 when I was a kid, and it still is in my family. Supper is the evening meal, therefore, evening starts at 5pm.
Although I agree 5pm is evening, I just want to say I shocked people can still have dinner at 5:30 with two working parents.

We manage it, although it's not easy. Has to be early so kids can be at evening activities by 630.

How do you people (yeah I said it) live with areas of the day that are "no man's land?" Madness.
First of all, how dare you.

There's a no man's land between 5 and 6 just because I can't believe someone would have the audacity to want to do anything with anyone between those hours. It's absurd.

I wash my legs after 6pm. Therefore 6pm is the evening.

So there's a Four Thirty in the evening, and Five Thirty at night is really a half hour before morning?

You people are all as crazy as underhand toilet paper.

See and I thought the only thing that was definitive is that “afternoon” takes place after noon lol

    Apparently even that is subjective

I never say good day to anyone during the day and good night we use when going to sleep.
Never been to an evening party and saying good night as greeting.

So really I use good morning until 11am, 12 -5 or 6pm would be my afternoon depending on the season. then 6pm until going to bed would be evening.

Does Denny's serve dinner all day? That would be confusing.

If I told someone I was meeting them at 11:30 in the afternoon they wouldn't know what the F I was talking about and would probably cancel the plans.

Wait... what? None of those make sense. Doesn't afternoon imply after noon?
