Applying for AHS (Non nursing)

This is just a question as it seems I am getting some conflicting info out on the web (no surprise). With regards to positions with AHS (Non nursing), do they really take forever to start the interview process once a job posting has ended? There was talk that to get into AHS, you have to know someone (insert godfather scene here) to get anywhere near the door. The reason I am asking is I applied for one of their IT/AV (mostly AV) positions and was just curious. In the private sector, I would get a notice within a week saying they wanted to have an interview or I was passed on the position but reading some notes, some folks say it was other a month or even longer before they would start the process.

Yup, big freeze across the boards right now at all levels (even friends in their offices are seeing some potential changes apparently.) GF (RN) is seeing texts across her unit saying "if anyone doesn't want to come in today, feel free" (in my own words lol)

Alberta could lose more than 750 front-line nurses under a "massive downsizing" at Alberta Health Services (AHS), says the United Nurses of Alberta.

The nurses' union said it learned of the planned cuts Friday morning after the lead negotiator for AHS, Raelene Fitz, called a meeting "unexpectedly" to inform the union that it plans to eliminate 500 full-time-equivalent (FTE) nursing positions over a three-year period beginning April 1, 2020.

Cutting 500 full-time-equivalent positions would mean layoffs for more than 750 front-line registered nurses because many nurses work part-time hours, the union said.

We have at least a couple beyonders who work for AHS. I was in "pre-interview" discussions with them a while back. The little I learned in that process leads me to believe that their process is incredibly slow and there are major internal politics to deal with to get selected. I would also agree they are likely on a "pause" for several months right now.
