    Default ?Off warranty Cadillacs

The "recession car deals" thread made me look up some Cadillac cars, as I now work almost 50km away from home and don't want my pile up the miles on my truck.

Somehow I'm surprised how cheap an off warranty one is (as in 5+ years). How do these things hold up mechanically, like worse than a Euro off warranty?

Had a CTS V-sport (not the V8 car but a TTV6) I only had it a year, but was a great car. Guys on the forums had pretty good luck with that model, aside from the usual electrical ill's (CUE can be a pain). The non Asin 8 speed (anything newer than 2017 I believe) can be trouble with clunky shifts and vibrations, apparently GM now has a fix.

Saw lots of issues with some models with the 2.0 turbo, detonation grenading engines, stuff like that.

Overall, probably just as buggy as euro brands, too much electric wizardry to fuck up.

Relevant thread - the warranty doesn't seem to mean much anyway, at least in this particular case:

Pretty sure the previous gen of luxury cars mostly filters down to the US rustbelt. Especially Cadillacs...

That's what I assumed as well. So many of our low km 3-5 year old domestics get bought by US dealerships.

They shouldn't be worse than anything else, and probably better than off warranty Euro cars. The bright side is that since it is a just a glorified Chevy product, parts are reasonably cheap and so is maintenance. Even worst case that you have to bring it to the dealer, it won't cost an arm and a leg like BMW or Merc will. And any indy shop can work on them.

Powertrain should be reasonably reliable. The extra electric gee-gaws are probably not particularly reliable.

FWIW, my 2010 CTS was the most reliable car I've ever owned. Had it for 8.5 years, replaced the battery after 5 years, and aside from people/hail hitting it, it never had any other problems.
