Default Anyone else noticing "oily" cars / garage floors this Winter?

Over the past few weeks I've been noticing oil stains around my wheels where I park on my garage floor. It kind of dilutes and mixes with the water so it's actually becoming quite a substantial stain, which is frustrating. Which lead me to notice what appears to be some residual oil all over my car...

My first thought was maybe something is leaking from my car. Spent a night with the car on jack stands inspecting underneath but found nothing leaking anywhere.

Second thought is perhaps construction nearby? I live in a newer community so there's always something happening around here. But then I also began noticing it at work too after commuting on Stoney Trail and even after I'd drive to other places across town. Generally noticing this trend after I've driven on Stoney Trail anywhere in the North to SE so far.

Third though is perhaps something new the city is using on the streets for snow/ ice melting? I heard they stopped using the beet brine last year (??) But perhaps they're using something new? I asked one friend to look at his vehicle and he said he was noticing the same thing recently.

There's visibly darker/ more black liquid / marks all over my car, so dark it's noticeably different than the brown mud color...

It's absolutely fucking nasty in parking lots that don't plow. Walking in that slimy slush, FML haha.

ya the beet juice stuff looks just like that, as does what they spray on the gravel back-lanes. I at first thought they were spraying oil (and a ton was pooling and then going into the stormwater drain) until i talked to the City about it a few years ago.

My garage floor is disgusting, and I won't have a chance to clean it out until the spring. Only 5 more months to go.

    Yup same.

Can't imagine how much damage all this sludge does to the concrete.... really helping to make a case for epoxying the floor.

You guys don't pressure wash your floors when chinooks hit? I do it every time. I can't stand the road grime build-up.

All you need to do is shovel a bunch of snow onto the garage floor, spread it around then push it all out with a push broom. Quick and easy to clean the floor. I do this once a month or so and it works great in a heated garage.

Can't, it'll splash all over the summer cars, and I'd rather keep that shit away from them.

That oily crap is typically from driving through parking lot puddles and parking lot slush. Ceramic coating + touchless wash it will come right off.

I think it's the crap we carry into garage and melts over night. I notice a few stain spot of my epoxied floor last spring. Probably going to get worse going forward.

I use a big broom and sweep out the garage fairly often, but I started noticing some bad stains I can't even get off so probably need to pressure wash in the Spring. My garage is heated and gets pretty toasty but I try to turn it off after big snow/ slushy days because then it melts fast and becomes so humid and even nastier in there garage.
