Considering "Millennials" are consistently talked about (typically in a negative light), it's hilarious that there isn't an actual definition because God knows the media loves to point the finger.

Also hilarious, how defensive 80s kids are about a label that doesn't actually define anything about them specifically. Ironic considering it's probably the same 80s kids saying people don't have thick enough skin these days.

Um there IS definitions. And there is a difference between being defensive about an inaccurate insult. And needing a safe space in a gender neutral bathroom to cry about that insult.

I was told Millennials are all losers.
    As a millennial, can confirm.

The way I've always thought of it, a McMansion is the "super value meal" of homes - very little substance, with size being prioritized at the expense of everything else.

It seems like mostly a US thing. I picture a sea of very large homes, say in the 4,000+ range. They'll have a brick facade, but vinyl siding on the other exterior walls; small, low- quality windows, further accentuating the lack of architectural elements and quality; basic "builder-grade" features like laminate floors, low-pile carpet, hollow interior doors, basic appliances (but hey, "they're stainless steal!"), fixtures and cabinets, acrylic tub surrounds, etc... Maybe even an above-ground pool! But hey, at least they've got 4,400 square feet on 1/2 an acre and it only cost $320,000!

I can't really think of any areas around Calgary where the size to quality ratio is as skewed as what I typically consider a McMansion.

To me, the millennial aversion to McMansions seems to have more to do with their seeming preference for quality over substance.

(back to your question - Based on the age chart you posted, I'm a millennial and my home fits the definition of what you described as a McMansion... I feel dirty).
Can a duplex even qualify to because McMansion? I would think that pretty much every McMansion owner would look down at a duplex.
    Will fuck off, again.

Unless you bought both and made it into one giant entrance, I don't think so.
There are some 3000 sq. ft+ duplexes though.

I don’t think there are many McMansions in Calgary/Alberta.

The target of the article are oversized, gaudy houses you see in the deep suburbs in the US (especially sunbelt) which prioritized for max sqft and, a very close 2nd, $/sqft.

Like if someone built a 4000sqft vinyl clad monstrosity in the deep burbs in Calgary where the neighbouring houses are $450k... that’d be a McMansion.

Haha that last one is in Pump hill - I have seen the inside of it, and if you think the outside is bad...

This one in Pump Hill is funny too - $5.5M, what looks like original 1976 appliances, and the entire inside is built like a Sauna:

Yea I love wood panelling - up to a point - but this is out of control.

Also, money does not buy taste - a tube TV in the middle of the fucking room with a doilied Walmart stand thats too small, plus some kind of hospital tray for the VCR.

There are several CRT TV's scattered throughout that house haha - probably some people who have lived there since new and are now too old to look after the property. Anyone who buys that place will probably need to budget another $1-2M for complete gutting and reno.

In the summer I walk by this house almost daily. It was/is for sale for a long time. Asian family lives there I believe. I think they have a big Chow Chow dog. If they're mainlanders that would explain the gaudy style. Not sure if it's been in the same family since it was built. It's been there for a quite a while.

It is a recognized religion in China and one of the faster growing one. Government doesn't like it.

Then again, he/she may have picked it up after leaving China.

Yup it is mostly people posting SNES / Sega / Gameboy games, clips from bevis and butthead, and early 90's music videos.
