I wouldn't have any money either if I took a $150,000 loan out like an imbecile for something stupid like a Masters in Christian Studies, just to realize it would result in a $30,000 a year job.

Between lack of fiscal knowledge/responsibility, living beyond their means, and lack of delaying gratification or understanding of sacrifice, it's no wonder some people won't ever get ahead.
Thats..... exactly the issue. The dumb dumbs now are mindless consumer whores who need to keep up with the Joneses, badly - but this isnt done with cars or homes, but with mobile devices and clothing, and the number of (fake, bot) followers they have on social media.

Let's just use this as a generational chart, could be off a couple of years here or there but it'll be our reference...

That's depressingly accurate. And our daily driver vehicles prove it out.

The article speaks more to the American demographic (especially in the sun belt).
Tons of cheaply built homes that prioritized sqft over build quality... just so they could flex their middle management job on their neighbors.

Also, I don't think people in proper mansions give a flying fuck..

Living (too) large: Aging baby boomers struggle to sell sprawling Sunbelt homes

Four years ago, George and Diane Hambleton spent nearly $3 million to build a house on Wadmalaw island in South Carolina, about a 20-minute drive from Charleston. Now, they want to sell the house and move “somewhere smaller where someone’s taking care of everything,” Ms. Hambleton, 74, told the Journal. She said they listed the house for sale for $2.99 million in 2016, later cut the asking price to $1.974 million and probably will end up selling for less than its construction cost.

    +1 for Super_Geo's point.

Them American houses have lots of living space but can't hold up to a storm haha.

I'm a terrible person for thinking this but 1928-45 has me contemplating all meanings of the phrase "silent as the grave"

    Silent indeed.

It's an example I used to use as a reference for the whole house versus generation thing, the point shouldn't be what generation you are although it does appear that many are quite hung up about that. Just go with it, post your home's details and your generation as you fit into the supplied chart. If you're still hung up with the whole generation description thing, well there is another thread that that was beat almost to death about. This is meant to be light hearted, untwist your panties a bit, eh.

Wait, your other article talks about 7500sqft homes. I thought McMansions were your slightly above average 3000sqft cookie cutter homes?

So if you don't want to play the little game, then just leave things be. Muddy the waters elsewhere.

As far as a McMansion, what would be a good Calgary definition of such. I wouldn't call my home or ES' home McMansions by any stretch of the imagination. I think once you're north of 2,500 square feet above grade, then you're heading into McMansion territory, 3,000 square feet for sure and I don't think a duplex/attached home/whatever else one wants to call that would ever be considered a McMansion.

If your home has an elevator, then it's most likely a McMansion. 4-5 car attached garage, probably McMansion territory. 3 car attached garage, debateable.

That’s a Calgary McMansion. Not a Texas McMansion.

I hate being grouped in with millennials, all they do is complain that the world isn’t handed to them on a silver platter

Agree with @Thaco about the millennial thing.

Born in 83. Have a 1300 sqft bungalow in the outer inner city. Not the burbs, not inner city. 2 bedroom 2 bathroom up, 2 bedroom 1 bathroom and an office in the developed basement. Wife and 2 small children. Also have a condo that was fun living at in my 20's

Millennials are broke because it all went to $100 Billion Bezos. Trillionaire by next decade?

    TL;DR
Millennials are a bunch of faggots.

It's a shame how this post will be construed, when it's actually extremely well put together. I'm not sure how the context will be lost with the written word.
Fuck. Cancel that. I'm embarrassed for explaining (or is it ManSplaining - I can never keep it straight) this shit.
Qty of fucks given for misinterpretation = 0.0
This excuse-factory generation of self-entitled cunt sticks that think people a mere decade older than them magically doomed the planet can choke to death on my rancid shit.
Point that fucking finger up your ass!
