2019 android podcast app?

Using Google podcast now. Have tried a few others and not wildly impressed with any.

I have been using Player FM for a long time, but recently the feeds are not working sometimes. Looking to try something else.

I'm not really sure what I want in my podcast experience, but I used castbox for a while and then switched to Google podcasts.

Pocket Casts is the best one IMHO. Only downside is the fact that you cannot search for episodes within a podcast - they have been promising that feature for years and it never comes.

Aside from that, it's the best player I have used for my tastes, and it has a very polished Android Auto app. It's free now too. I listen to most podcasts at 1.6-2.0X speed (I don't know why but so many podcasters seem to talk intentionally extremely slowly) and with the dead air space automatically removed - saves me many many hours, literally.

i did use pocketcasts for a while, i cant remember why i switched, i think it was just a resource hog and the playback suffered, cant remember for sure. But castbox has been solid for me.

I bought pocket casts years ago, and had it setup well. They recently went free w/ premium features, and I feel like it's gotten worse for me. I swapped phones (not the first time) and my filters for unplayed didn't come over, and it just feels clunky now.

Paid for Pocket casts. Always found it very strange that Android/Google never released a native/built-in app for podcasts given how popular it is and we had to go searching for an app on our own.

Google has two native podcast apps and they've been around for a long time. One is Google Podcasts, the other is built into Google Play Music.

Youtube music has been around what, 2 years already, with the intention of migrating the Google music catalog. I've personally already swapped, but like... how much longer?

Yup, they've been saying that for years now. No change yet.

I use podcast addict.
Has a lot of customizable settings and can have speed settings for each podcast.
Google music was my previous and then Google podcast.
They both suck compared to other podcast apps.

I dont like youtube music as much as google music. I do wish they had better video streaming lists as I like to play music / videos in the background.


Also, google is giving away a free home mini to all subscribers right now
