^^^ This. My sister found this out years ago for the same reason you have. She was getting a lot of confidential business related material emailed to her. She could have easily stolen this person's identity, it was that bad. Google washed their hands of it.

I'm fortunate to have a very rare last name so I've never run into this, that would get frustrating though.

Also my name (both first and last) is also now of someone's who's a pretty popular singer so I get emails intended for that person for show booking enquiries all the time.

Google told me that I have to sort this out myself with the other person and there's nothing they could do when I contacted them.

You guys expecting google to do something - what do you think they would do? They can't prevent people from using the wrong email address, intentionally or unintentionally, to email you.

If the people sending sensitive documents can't even be bothered to make sure they are sending it to the correct email address, that is nobody's problem but their own. If it's the same address(es) every time and it bothers you, just block them.

This happened to my GF - she made every effort to let the people know, and even after they acknowledged it, they kept sending so we just blocked them.

I don't think anyone expects google to keep people from entering a bad email. But if google actually paid attention to the actual email address and bounced mail to an email that didnt really exist. It would clean up most peoples problems.

I have 2FA on my mailbox so I know they arent using my email per say but some other people with my same name send there fucking emails to my email. Only difference is my email is [email protected] and they are sending it to [email protected] in the last 6 months some guy in England has signed up for his personal photo book service with this account and to nike.com to buy some shoes yesterday. I thought about fucking with him and cancelling the order but I didnt because I dont think thats particulary nice but I have no idea other than sending him a letter to say stop using my fucking email address.
Are you sure these aren’t just phishing attempts? I get a lot of fake phishing emails confirming an order, and there is always a big cancel button right on the email (unlike REAL confirmations where companies don’t usually make it easy to cancel with one click)

Here’s one I just got now...it’s one of the shittier ones I’ve seen (lol @ iPhone s6):

Buy shit direct from china .... its fucking downhill fast after that. I'm actually trying to abandon my email to get a new one with how much spam I get but its a pain with so much tied to it nowadays.

no this email was from nike.com (uk) and I logged in - changed the password and I had the option of cancelling his delivery. I found out its actually his mom had bought him a xmas present I think and so it wasnt necessarily himself that was ordering. I thought it might be a dick move to cancel his shoes order

Lol. It's worse...it's a Punjabi singer. Funny enough, I met the dude at a show recently too. It was quite a joke about two exact same name people being there.

I mentioned that earlier - I was rather surprised when people thought google should be doing something about it. Someone having or using the wrong email address is simply not their problem, nor would it be reasonable for them to dedicate the time and resources required to follow up with the millions of people using the wrong address either intentionally or unintentionally.

Is someone emailing you that you don't know? Tell them they have the wrong address and block them. The problem is primarily caused by the sender not bothering to verify the information is correct.

Google doesn't even have time to fix things they should be fixing, let alone things they shouldn't be fixing haha.
