Question Entry Level/Mid Range Winter Rims

I just bought a new Lexus IS350AWD F Sport and am looking for a winter rim/tire combo.

Up until now I have always just done steelies as my winter rims, but while not looking at BBS/Work rims, I am looking for something better than the steelies now.

Any suggestions for decent entry level/mid range rims? I don't want a cheap Chinese rim that falls apart, but at the same time this will be a dedicated set of winter rims/tires so I don't want to spend a ton.

    Thanks!

I have always just used my factory wheels as winters then bought a nicer set for summer tires.

If I needed rims, I'd call my favourite wheel and tire shop to get a recommendation and a quote. I'd probably also check online for some options, but first call for me would be Urban Expressions.

This will probably fall into cheap chinese wheels category. But I have a set of Fast FC04 for the family van in winter. Third winter now, and it seems to be ok so far.

Yeah. These are flow formed for $200-$300 depending on size. I've got a set for each car.

NTD makes a wheel that is hub centric and allows you to use your OEM lug nuts. They are like $150 each or so. I have three sets of these on my family’s cars. Fast also has direct fit wheels but you’ll be over $200 per wheel.

I just buy bigger steelies and throw hubcaps on them so they look decent. Too many hidden curbs in the winter, I don't want to deal with scratched up alloys. Next best thing IMHO is buy some really nice wheels for summer and use the factory wheels as winters.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far.

To add a bit more info, I did just think about using the stock rims for winters and buying a nice set of summers next spring. However the factory rims are pretty nice to begin with, staggered, and have brand new summer tires on them.

    1) I was thinking of moving away from staggered for my winter set
    2) putting staggered winter rims on my stock tires, would then push me to find new summer rims that work with the brand new summers I already have.

Any insight on why I should not move away from staggered during winter/etc. would be also appreciated.

you can stagger your wheels and square up the tires. Doesn't help with rotations though.

I usually end up with 3 sets of wheels. Square asymmetric winters, stock and summer. The stock wheels usually only get used for a few weeks while I pick and wait for summers.
I have also taken stock tires and put them on summers and left the stock wheels in the basement.

On the E63, I ended up with stock wheels for winter.

+1 for Fast wheels. They're way lighter than steelies and not that much pricier. And obviously they look way better.

What's the downside of buying the cheaper wheels? How do I tell if something is direct fit?

Correct me if I am wrong with this, as I don't know wheel brands all that well.

Steelies on an IS350? Nothing screams I saved 20 bucks but look shitty for 7 months out of the year on a Lexus ...

Some decent steelies would be close to $100/wheel plus hubcaps... get some cheap RTX or Fast wheels for winter.

I have been very happy with my Replika wheels which are made by Fast so nugs. Good replica of the oem vw wheel and quality on the finish was pretty good especially for the money. Fitment was as good as oem. Ceramic coated them to avoid brake dust and were ok all winter. Maybe they don't hold up to a curb but who am I to say.
Seems like only one lexus wheel though

Exactly. The cheap and smart money is using the stock wheels for winter and getting something nice for summer with performance, sticky as Hell, summer-only tires.

I run Niche rims in the winter. They aren't cheap per-say but not as expensive as the stock rims.
