Default How Much Electricity Per Month Does Your Household Consume?

Now that I'm living in an apartment / paying bills again, I'm doing my best to conserve and monitor my energy consumption.

How much electricity does your household consume each month? What factors contribute to that quantity (# of people, age of appliances, work from home, etc.) and do you think you could do better?

Number of people makes a difference, converting to LED lighting probably was the largest difference maker.
    Will fuck off, again.

Mods - can you delete this thread so I can re-post?

I screwed up the poll options as I based it on average person's consumption rather than household.

    Thanks!

House of four people, and we are between 750 and 1200 kWh. 1000 is a good average, so 250 I guess. I've been told that's high, but I haven't put a lot of effort into reducing it. Electricity is so cheap, why conserve?

It costs me way more to connect to the grid than I ever use in wattage.

Looks like around 875. Poll options are wack.

Typically around 1300kwh. As high as 1800 in the dead of winter because of the hottub and garage furnace.

I realized that after I posted. I saw Alberta averages 200 kWh but it's per person rather than per household.

Here in Spain we only use 125 kWh / month in our household, and it's winter, and I work from home, so I wasn't expecting consumption in Alberta to be THAT much higher.

I can't edit the poll options so I asked the mods to delete so I could re-post, if you read the thread.

Spain is a third world country. High energy use is directly correlated to awesomeness.

But do you have a standing freezer big enough to fit a whole cow inside?

    Didn’t think so.

Honestly I think most of my energy usage is my furnace fan, that and my washer dryer I suppose?

Used 190 last bill. The majority of my bill is fees and not usage. I don't bother trying to manage my consumption too much. My last Enmax bill was about $54 and only $7 of that was actual usage charges.

Would 190 even power a trickle charger. Hahah

Hahaha no. I live in a condo and slowly replaced incandescent light bulbs with LED bulbs as they burnt out. I don't actively try to limit use. I have a desktop PC and a 52 inch LCD TV on most of time I'm home unless I'm sleeping. I cook a lot at home too. My usage almost doubles in the summer as I run an air conditioner in my bedroom.

I goofed on my usage charge in my previous post, it should be $13. I was only looking at the first two weeks of the billing cycle. From October 16 to November 17 I used 197 kWh.

Pretty consistently at 350 kwh every month. Interested to see how much the Christmas lights use

800 in the winter, 1200 for the 4 months of summer because of the a/c and running both my furnace fans 24/7. Pretty consistent surprisingly.

Household of 2 adults, 2 kids (2 years + 2 months) and a dog. I don’t really think “per person” is a good indicator here but I guess that means 200-300 per person.

Curious how December will be with the Christmas lights too, but I doubt it will make a difference.

Not gonna lie, the 3 for all deal with atco really makes me not care about saving electricity. Still another 2 years to go of reckless electricity use
