    Haven't been invited to a wedding in over 5 years which is good and bad.

    Good = saves me money
    Bad = I has no friends / not worthy

    LPT: I give with a cheque to avoid any mix-ups. I also end the amount with .88 for extra luck

    Having just been married in October, i can say the average monetary gift was $100 per couple. About 1 in 4 couples didn't give a gift at all.

    The amount had no correlation to the relationship. At all. The inlaw's side didn't gift us anything. Not even the father of the bride. Didn't pay a single cent.

    Being one of the last to get married in our circle, i have gifted for most everyone's wedding prior and my gift was $100 per head for adults and if we brought kids, it was $50 per kid. So I spent about half what they spent.

    Shit most of mine are too! I can see 2-3 already going that way. This is why it was so out of place for us.

    Yea had a few friends not make it and others are on to their 2nd go around. Jokes aside all the best to everyone. Relationships are so tricky.

    Strong counterpoint. Well said.
    Still waiting on an explanation from him as to why it's "dumb" to at minimum cover your costs at a wedding, if money is your chosen gift. It's the first time I've heard that.

    It's dumb to set a minimum on a gift for anything. You give what you feel comfortable giving. There shouldn't be any expectations.

    That will get you shunned real fast from the married folk. Wives dont want their husbands hanging out with single guys who are always with new chicks lol Im jealous of you Max if thats the case

    If anything we made a better decision because we had a consensus and were all on the same page.
