I maintain that plowing residential streets causes more problems than it solves.

    Pro: streets are plowed
    Cons: plowed onto my sidewalk

Sounds like 311’s problem to shovel now?

Dug out at 7am so could get last of groceries without a packed store.
Side streets definitely the worst. Rest are hard packed winter driving conditions.

I mean the main problem is getting ticketed for not clearing, so this sounds like a get out of jail free card to me

Looks like my street got plowed in the night. The windrows aren’t too bad, might go crush them down with the truck later but I’m really not that concerned.

for our typical storms I agree, yesterday definitely required some plowing, the street in front of my wife's work is unpassable without a SUV or Truck

however the berms it creates on my street are a bitch as they can be 1' or higher with the plow

I ended up shoveling my alley yesterday and digging out the entrance to the road, about half a block's worth. Way more work than I anticipated, I do not recommend it haha. Took me about 4 hours. A few people came out to thank me but no offers to help It's supposed to be warm tomorrow though and after that all the ruts are going to turn into bumper-destroying ice.

Wife tried to go out yesterday but got stuck in the alley (2009 Nissan Murano with dedicated Toyo winters). I went out, locked the AWD system and turned off the VDC. Took some wheel slippage to get going, but it plowed through!! Now I need to drive her everywhere because she wouldn't make it out of the alley.

Hopefully by late afternoon tomorrow I’ll be able to drive my car. Not a chance I’d have made it yesterday even with studded winters, just not enough ground clearance.

    +1

They plowed the main roads in my hood last night and now there are 1.5-2' tall windrows blocking all the cars in. It narrowed what is usually a super wide road that you can park on both sides + tons of room for cars traveling in each direction down to a single lane road as the "parking lane" is now twice the car width on each side. Thankfully we park in the garage and drive my truck because if you park on the street you're fucked.

the beauts in the Roads dept decided to plow, but ONLY did one side of the main bus road in our area - so now our main road is basically one lane as the other turned into a shit pile.

They'll take another swipe or two over the next 72 hours, have no fear. Remember the "snow plan" means they don't even really intend to have bus routes plowed for the first 48 hours.

they should have left it alone completely until they were ready to do both sides - on the plus side, someone was getting their snow racer towed behind a F150 last night on the same unplowed road..... looked like good times!

First thing I did before attempting to drive. Turn off traction and drop to 2nd gear manually. Easy at that point.

I always turn off TC on the bad winter days. I could smell people's brakes cooking from a block away as they were flooring it trying to get un-stuck.

Amazon guy was struggling with a FWD van with all season yesterday. Let’s try it again with a RWD van with all season today.

@baygirl 's car was buried in snow over the hood. Spent last night digging it out. Even with snow tires on it we didn't even bother trying to move it, it would only get stuck 6 feet away from where it is parked.

Cleaned off my truck in the alley, and was able to cruise out of there in 2wd. Until i got to the street and then i quickly sunk in the loose pack and had to put it in 4x4, but it is able to drive through all this mess fine on my KA02 tires. I have a set of studded winters for it, but I haven't put them on yet.

Drove Baygirl to work this morning as her car still won't get out of her parking spot.

He'll even trade some stories for some whiskey. The more whiskey, the better the stories!
