Truck still a champ this AM. Toasty toasty.

However it was cold enough this morning for me to finally notice that the ice traction on my duratracs have fallen off a cliff. Was very testy coming down the hill over Center street bridge. Had a fool panic brake in front of me and even with a good 50ft of following distance I wasn’t stopping and had to veer into the other (thankfully empty) lane to avoid him.

First time I have had anything negative to say about the duratracs this year though, pretty decent tires so far.

Anyone else get slow rebounding/sticky clutches while driving in this weather? Happens even after everything has come up to temp.

Gear oil in these temps is brutal. Also if you clutch pedal has grease anymore on the assembly won't help either.

Im in a heated parkade. I had the opposite. I drove to pick up a work college on the way to work. After 20mins I noticed my gear shifter starting to stiffen a bit, same with steering. Nothing crazy. Just not as fluid. But clutch was fine.

Might do a bleed/flush at my next service, I park in a heated garage too and it was fine until the cold set in. Might have some water in the fluid cause the brake pedal feels slightly harder than usual too when it’s this cold.

I’m honestly surprised my truck started like a warm summers day after only being plugged in for an hour last night. Took three minutes of high idle for the trans to be warm enough to engage drive though.

Saw -38.5C on the drive in to the city. And the Mercedes with 333,000 km parked outside, not plugged in, fired right up and was good to go...can't complain!

That’s not good. I drive my son to school every morning. My car is toasty warm after driving a couple blocks.

And whats the Oil temp? My car is also toasty warm but the oil temp doesn't get above 70 driving to work downtown.

My oil temp might have gotten to 80-90 the most, that's at the end of my ~hr commute home. It probably takes a good 15-20 minutes to see the reading starting at 45C. The car sounds like an old truck for the first 5min of driving.

Happened to my car end of the day yesterday after being outside all day.
Was sticking throughout a 30 min drive.

Short drives in these temps are bad for vehicles. It doesn't let the oil get up to temp properly and creates excess condensation. If you have the opportunity during the week or weekend take it out for a good rip.. good for the battery too.

Drive from Aspen to Bow Valley Sq. reasonable drive, ~25min this morning.
Hoping the heated parkade will help warm it up.

Even my outside air temp hit -30 within 5 min of leaving the house; i figured the car was cold overnight in the garage (it's insulated but not heated). Yesterday it took until Westbrook to reach the -29 mark.

My car was at 69th street station all day on Monday, and when I got in at the end of the day it started fine.. but the DSG did not like it. Felt like someone learning to drive stick , so decided to just leave my car in the garage this week. I'll probably drive to work on Friday and park in heated parkade, hopefully it starts on Friday morning (insulated not heated garage).
