How does the City of Calgary calculate the insurance damage? How are they experts on this?
Do they wake up one morning and make up a number?
I would think the Insurance companies would be a better source to come up with a number since it is their line of work.

The city is guessing, and choosing a large number to attempt to make headlines and somehow pull federal disaster relief money.

This is not an accounting number, its political.

Is there a separate thread for body repair shops that can provide a quote for hail damage? My parent's car need a quote.

Are there statistics on which portions of the city get hit harder ?

I am in Deer Ridge and don't recall ever getting Hail like they had in the NE...

Nickel sized one time that put a few dings in my truck but nothing bigger...

I've been here over 20 years...

Unscientific recollection last huge one was in the NW. Dealership group near Royal Oak/Beacon Hill has huge hail sales.

But nothing like this one at NE.

I have no data, but the far north ALWAYS get hit the worst and the most. The far south gets it too,but not as bad. I'm fairly central and have never seen hail bigger than a pea.

I know, Fam. We cool. But the number of people who legit think that place is like Garry, Indiana (but also frozen) in comparison to Calgary is baffling and hilarious.
100%. I think it may be similiar to Canada's inferiority complex and the USA.

The USA is Canada's "well, we're not them/ we are better than them" as Edmonton is to Calgary.

Even though there is no real difference. I will say, having lived in both cities, Edmonton overall is just a much slower average pace.

Just realized that the guy down the street with the Buick Grand National left it parked on the street. It's trashed. I always wondered why he started parking quads and his work truck in the garage instead of the GN... paid the price.
    Oh god, oh no.

Riverbend was just a big storm. Other than rising water from 2013 (no actual flooding I don't think), pretty pretty pretty good down here.

Skyview Ranch (first two) and Saddleridge (third picture) - block after block of homes in the NE that look like this. Busted out windows, shingles torn completely off, holes actually punched through roofs and denting drywall ceilings below - some of that must've been almost terrifying. i saw downspouts and eaves troughs completely torn off.

I wonder how many people caught outside were injured by this.
